Preschool News 27.9.24

This week, our learning adventures were filled with color, creativity, and sensory exploration! Here's a look at what we've been up to:

We have introduced the book "The Colour Monster," which helped the children learn about emotions by associating them with different colors. The children did a fantastic job identifying and naming their feelings using the colors from the story.

Continuing with the color theme, we also listened to "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?" and practiced describing the animals by their colors. This activity helped the children expand their vocabulary and practice identifying animals and colors.

Our rhyme this week was "The Bear Went Over the Mountain." The children enjoyed singing about the bear's journey, and we had fun extending this by imagining other animals making their way over the mountain--like deer, rabbits, and even a tiny mouse!

We explored our sense of touch through a variety of hands-on activities:
Hand painting and dough play helped the children feel different textures while creating, and we also made some beautifully colourful rainbow collages using our fine motor pincer grips.
The children also enjoyed playing a sensory game where they had to identify hidden objects by touch alone--this was a great way to build problem-solving skills!

Our musical instrument exploration continued, and the children loved feeling the vibrations and textures of different instruments as they played. We also enjoyed dancing along to the 'Funky Monkey' song. pretending to be lots of different jungle animals.

This week, we had fun with maths, we practiced our listening and matching skills with a preschool favorite: Colour Bingo. The children worked hard to find the matching color on their bingo cards, practicing color recognition while having lots of fun.

Next week, we have exciting new activities planned, including:
Mixing paint colors together to see what new colors we can create.
Beginning our exploration of 2D shapes, learning to identify and describe them.
Exploring our sense of smell with a variety of scent-based activities.

This week was full of colorful fun and sensory discoveries, and we can't wait to dive into even more learning next week! Ask your little one about their favorite color or the animals they met on their journey "over the mountain"!
