What an exciting week we've had together this week in preschool!
We loved sharing our baby photos and talking about how much we have grown and changed. You were all so proud to show pictures of your families at work -- we saw so many interesting jobs including a tree surgeon, merchant navy officer, opera singer, police officer, teacher and many more! Everyone joined in a brilliant chat about what you might like to be when you grow up. There were so many fantastic ideas!
In Literacy, we read Why Not? by George Webster. The story inspired us to think about trying something new and having a go, even if it feels tricky at first -- because why not!
We had lots of fun singing Old MacDonald, making all the animal sounds together and Fred talking the names of each animal to help with our blending.
In Maths, we learned about length with Concept Cat. You were all great at finding things that were short and long, especially when we went hunting for sticks in the garden. We have also had fun making pictures with our 2d shapes.
For PSED, we thought about the story of Incy Wincy Spider, who never gave up no matter how many times he was washed away. Just like Incy, Boris reminded us, keep trying and don't give up!
In Physical Development, we got moving to be fit like firefighters! We pretended to run with hoses, reach up high to test smoke alarms, and practised the actions for "get out, stay out, dial 999." You all did fantastic firefighter training!
We have also been practising our scissor skills, cutting herbs to add to our playdough, preschool room smelt very minty! and concentrating really hard to cut out paper leaves without snipping them in half!
In Expressive Arts and Design, we carried on exploring musical instruments from Make Music Day. Everyone enjoyed trying out the accordion, organ, ukulele, and triangle. We made such wonderful sounds together!
Next Week:
We have transition days for our older children and some special visits from our new friends who will be starting in September.
What a super week, everyone! You've been so busy learning, exploring, and sharing.
