Preschool News 27.1.23

We started the week by celebrating the Luna New Year and the Chinese year of the Rabbit. The children listened to the story of how the years were given their animal names and worked out which year we were born in. They explored rice and noodles with chopsticks and we ate noodles for snack. Finally we took part in our own dragon dance.

We were lucky to join in with a special sports session on Tuesday with GB swimmer Lauren Quigley, the children were fantastic and really enjoyed it.

Our traditional tale theme continued this week with 'Goldilocks and The Three Bears'. We have listened to the story, sang 'When Goldilocks went to the house of the bears' and explored wet and dry porridge oats.

We had another fantastic Helicopter story time with the children telling us some fantastic stories, and we have been listening to rhyming stories and trying to spot the words which rhyme

In maths we have reviewed the number 3 and used different shapes to make pictures of houses.

We worked hard at carpet times, we sorted out the mixed up clothes into things we would wear in the winter and things we would wear in the summer, and in our Heartsmart session we made a friendship web and told our friends what makes them kind.

Next week we are continuing with our theme Goldilocks and the Three Bears, tasting porridge and ordering by size. We will also be celebrating number day on Friday with lots of fun number activities.
