Preschool News 23.6.23

This week in preschool we have continued our 'mini beast' theme and we have been joined by two Giant African Land Snails. The children have been really engaged watching them crawl around their tank and stroking their shells carefully. We have learnt some fascinating facts such as they have thousands of small teath to grind their food.

On Thursday we harvested some of our potatoes. We counted which bag had more and then weighed them to see which was the heaviest. The kitchen staff then very kindly cooked them for us so we could eat them at snack time, they were very tasty!

Caterpillar update! – we have Butterflies!!! On Thursday the first of our butterflies hatched out of its chrysalis, followed by another on Friday.

The children have made butterfly lifecycle pictures using different shaped pasta, they were all very good at telling us about each stage of the life cycle and what would happen next.

In Heart smart this week we have been practicing our cup stacking. This was a little tricky and required us to persevere and keep trying!.

Our older preschool children have been taking part in transition activities this week, Helen and Kim are so pleased of how well everyone has managed this, we are really proud of you all!

Next week we will be looking at another type of mini beast and releasing our butterflies into the preschool garden
