Buzzy Bees and Brilliant Sports Day!

Hello Families,

What a busy and joyful week we've had in preschool! The children have been full of enthusiasm as we explored stories, celebrated World Bee Day, and shone brightly at our Sports Day.

In literacy, we enjoyed the story Handa's Surprise and focused on the sound of the week: 't'. The children joined in with lots of oral blending games like Fred Says, helping them hear and blend sounds in a fun and playful way.

For communication and language, our rhyme of the week was Here is the Beehive. We had lots of fun acting it out and using our fingers to count the bees as they buzzed away!

In maths, we explored repeating patterns through a bee craft activity, using yellow and black strips of paper to create our very own buzzing patterns.

As part of our exploration of the natural world, we learned fascinating bee facts for World Bee Day -- the children loved discovering how important bees are and how they help our plants grow.

Physical development was a real highlight this week as we celebrated Sports Day! The children were absolutely fantastic -- they ran and cheered with enthusiasm. We are so proud of each and every one of them.

For fine motor development, the children enjoyed a sticky challenge: rescuing bugs from honey gloop using tweezers -- lots of concentration and giggles.

In PSED, we read Kind Hands Don't Hurt and talked about all the kind things we can do with our hands -- from helping friends to giving high-fives. It was a lovely moment of reflection and sharing.

In our continued look at the world, we returned to Handa's Surprise, moving like the animals in the story and tasting a variety of delicious fruits just like Handa's. A fun and sensory way to deepen our understanding of the story.

And in Expressive Arts and Design, we got musical with Tanka Tanka Skunk, tapping out the rhythms of animal names and experimenting with different instruments and beats.
