Preschool news 17.2.23

In preschool this week we have been finishing off our traditional tales theme, reading The Boy who Cried Wolf and Stone Soup.

On Tuesday we joined year 2 to work together to clear litter from the school field. We talked about how it is good to help out our local community and work together.

We have enjoyed some Valentines day crafts, painting, threading, and size ordering hearts from biggest to smallest.

The children have worked hard in literacy this week story sequencing 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears' and innovating our story map of the 'Three Little Pigs', changing it to 'The Three Big Wolves'. We have also been practicing recognising rhyming words, playing the rhyming pairs game.

In maths we have sung the number rhyme '5 Current Buns' and looked at ordering winter objects by size.

The children have continued to enjoy the performance area, singing rhymes with their friends. We have begun to learn the Gruffalo song in preparation for world book day and started to make repeating musical patterns.

In the outdoor area the children have been working well together in the building area, practicing using tools and counting how many bricks high their towers are. They have also been making potions in the mud kitchen, playing racing and chasing games, and building ball runs down the path.

Next term our theme will be Dinosaurs. We will also be looking at the changes that happen in the environment as we get closer to spring.
