What Do We See at Preschool?

This week has been bursting with bear-themed fun, hands-on learning, and joyful play!

Our story of the week was Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?, paired perfectly with the rhyme The Bear Went Over the Mountain. The children loved joining in with the repeated phrase "What do you see?"--showing fantastic listening and participation skills.

In maths, we explored positional language through a lively game of musical chairs, placing a doll on, under, and next to the chair. Indoors, our builders got creative with large and small bricks, adding people and cars to their constructions and practising those same positional words--in, on, and under.
Outdoors we went on a 'walk' around preschool garden, going over, through and around the obstacles in our way.

We also welcomed a new friend: Boris the Robot from Heartsmart! Boris is helping us learn about kindness and making healthy choices. To tie in with our bear adventures, we focused on the sense of sight--discovering how we use our eyes to look and see.

Thursday brought a frosty surprise! Year 1 created an 'arctic' tuff tray for us to explore. The children were fascinated by the melting ice and rising water levels--it was a chilly, splashy hit!

Outdoors, the energy was high as children zoomed around on mini ride-ons, practised pedalling trikes, and imagined animal adventures in a swamp. Our garden became a hub of discovery, with binoculars and magnifying glasses helping little explorers spot new wonders--perfectly linking to our sight theme.

Even the wet weather couldn't dampen our spirits! On Wednesday, we jumped in puddles and mixed bubbles and colours using sweeping brushes. Messy, magical fun!

Looking Ahead...

Next week, we'll be diving into the colourful world of Elmer and learning the rhyme Tommy Thumb. Our focus will shift to the sense of touch--exploring textures, experimenting with colours, and getting wonderfully creative with junk modelling.
