Our focus this week has been on perseverance and resilience--encouraging the children to "try, try again" even when something feels tricky. We've been so proud of the determination and positivity they've shown!

In Literacy, our story of the week was Tilda Tries Again, which beautifully reinforced our theme of not giving up. Our older children continued their Read Write Inc. sessions, focusing on the sound 'i'.
We also enjoyed another round of Helicopter Stories, where the children told their own imaginative stories and acted them out with their friends.

For Communication and Language, our rhyme of the week was Jelly on a Plate, which had us giggling and joining in with the wobbly actions!

In Understanding the World, we explored the change of season as we move into summer. On our summer walk, we noticed signs of the new season and used the natural objects we collected--like leaves, petals and sticks--to make a picture record as we walked around the school grounds.

In Maths, we began comparing heights. The children measured and ordered each other (and the grown-ups!) from tallest to shortest, using some great mathematical language and observation skills.

In Physical Development, we made the most of the outdoors--especially during our trim trail session on Friday. The children had fun practicing their balancing, climbing and coordination.

For PSED (Personal, Social and Emotional Development), we read The Family Book by Todd Parr. It sparked lovely conversations about our different families and how they are all special.
We also continued our Boris's Challenges, including a fun (and sometimes frustrating!) cup-stacking activity, where the children really demonstrated perseverance and teamwork.

In Expressive Arts and Design, we explored how music makes us feel by mark-making to a variety of instrumental pieces--from calming classical to energetic rock and pop. It was wonderful to see the children express their feelings through colour, movement and line.

We also worked very hard on our Father's Day cards, taking time to decorate them thoughtfully and carefully write our names. We hope all our families enjoy them!

Next Week:

We'll continue exploring summer and resilience with more fun Boris challenges, we will also be intrducing our new traditional tale 'Stone soup'
