This week in preschool, we have been celebrating Science Week by exploring the theme of change.

The children were fascinated as we observed frogspawn transforming into tadpoles, sparking curiosity about the life cycle of a frog.
We also conducted exciting experiments, including the classic Coke and Mentos explosion and a foaming reaction with bicarbonate of soda and vinegar.

In our role-play area, we transformed into doctors for First Aid Week, learning how to help if someone gets hurt and practicing putting plasters on dolls.

Our story of the week was Zog and the Flying Doctors, which tied in perfectly with our medical theme, and our rhyme of the week was Miss Polly Had a Dolly.

The children thoroughly enjoyed oral storytelling and another fun session of Helicopter Stories, where they acted out the imaginative tales created by their friends.

In maths, we explored capacity in the water tray, comparing full and empty containers and experimenting with different amounts of water.
At the game table, we played a Matching Monster game, recognizing dot patterns and identifying the corresponding numbers to find the correct puzzle pieces.

We played Bertha the Bus, an alliteration game, focusing on words that start with the 's' sound.

For fine motor development, the children enjoyed squeezing playdough through garlic crushers, strengthening their hand muscles, and practicing handwriting patterns to improve their pre-writing skills.
The children also took part in Frog Yoga, stretching and moving like frogs in fun, active poses.

In our Heartsmart session, we played a Boris ring game called We Are All Friends Together, where the children took turns choosing a friend to join the circle and picking a game to play, reinforcing kindness and inclusivity.

Next week, we will be celebrating St. Patrick's Day, exploring 3D shapes, and challenging ourselves with an obstacle course where we will move our bodies over, under, and through different obstacles. We are looking forward to another exciting week of learning and fun!
