Our Preschool Year in Review
What an amazing year it has been! You have all learned so much, grown so big, and had so many adventures together.
We enjoyed listening to lots of wonderful stories, like The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Zog, Sugarlump and the Unicorn, The Singing Mermaid, Stone Soup, and We're Going on a Bear Hunt. You were fantastic at remembering what happened and acting out the stories with your friends. We learned sounds like m, a, s, d, and t, played silly soup, and had fun with helicopter stories, where you told your own tales and acted them out on our stage.
We sang lots of rhymes, including 5 Little Speckled Frogs, Little Miss Muffet, and Old MacDonald. You got really good at blending sounds and spotting rhyming words.
In Maths, we did so much measuring, counting, and comparing. We looked at tallest plants, compared heavy and light things, ordered everyone by height, and even counted how many potatoes we grew! You made repeating patterns and used tally charts to show your favourite colours and pancake toppings.
You were brilliant explorers of the world around us. We planted seeds, grew cress, peas, and potatoes, and watched caterpillars turn into butterflies. We learned how to look after our Earth on Earth Day and noticed how the seasons changed.
Your bodies got strong and active with so much moving--balancing on the trim trail, racing on Sports Day, jumping, climbing, building obstacle courses, and using tweezers, cutters, and playdough to make your fingers strong.
We made so many lovely things in our creative time, we painted bug stones, made sunshine collages, craft spiders, and cards for special days like Mother's Day, Father's Day, and Valentine's Day. We explored instruments, listened to all kinds of music, and even made marks to show how different tunes made us feel.
In Heartsmart, you learned to be kind, caring friends. You practiced listening with your ears, helping with your hands, and showing love with your hearts. You remembered to keep trying when things were tricky--just like Incy Wincy Spider and Boris, who says "Never give up!"
Thank you all for such a wonderful, busy year. Over the summer holidays, you can chat to your grown-ups about your favourite stories, rhymes, and the times you had the most fun. We can't wait for next term when we'll have even more adventures in Preschool and Reception and make new memories together.
Have a fantastic summer break
