A Lovely Week in Preschool!
This week in preschool, we had another wonderful time filled with exciting activities and learning opportunities. Here's a look at what we've been up to:
We started the week by exploring a bog of froggy slime, catching and counting the frogs. The children had a fantastic time engaging with this sensory activity, which also helped develop their counting skills.
On Monday, we continued with our mini beast theme and were thrilled to find our last cocoon had hatched into a small but perfectly formed butterfly. The children used their keen observational skills to spot various mini beasts during our games.
Tuesday was all about patterns in nature. We used our good looking eyes to spot different patterns, and the children loved identifying spots, stripes, and spirals. These natural patterns captivated their curiosity and provided a wonderful learning experience.
On Wednesday, we began working on the final piece for our mark-making books for the year: self-portraits. The children enjoyed expressing themselves through art and capturing their likenesses on paper.
We also enjoyed fun game of 'Capture the Pirate's Treasure' with our parachute. The children dived under the stormy seas to grab some treasure from the chest.
Thursday's Heartsmart session included a yoga feelings session and a dance to a happy song. The children added smiling faces to pictures and colored them in, reinforcing positive emotions and self-expression. We also read "The Family Book" and "It's Okay to Be Different" by Todd Parr, which sparked a discussion about how we are all different and how that is a good thing.
On Friday, we released our last butterfly after one final listen to "The Very Hungry Caterpillar." It was a beautiful moment that marked the end of our butterfly journey and allowed the children to reflect on the life cycle they have observed.
We have been joyfully working through our rhymes and will continue with this next week. The children are enjoying the rhythm and repetition, which supports their language development.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in your child's preschool journey. We hope you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to another fantastic week together.
