We've had another exciting and enriching week in preschool, it has been full of creativity, learning, and celebrations!

In literacy, we enjoyed lots of stories including The Very Lazy Ladybird and What the Ladybird Heard. Our focus sound was 's' and the older children played fun oral blending games using Fred the Frog from Read Write Inc. These games help develop listening and early phonics skills in a playful way.

In communication and language, our rhyme of the week was Dingle Dangle Scarecrow. The children loved singing and acting out the actions, which also supported their physical movement and expressive language.

Maths has been all about ladybirds! We have explored patterns and doubling by painting ladybird spots and matching them across the two sides. This has helped the children with their understanding of symmetry and number concepts like matching and counting in pairs.

In Understanding the World, we have continued learning about the natural world focusing on ladybirds and other minibeasts. The children have been bug hunting in the preschool garden, using our information books to identify what they have found.
We have planted tomatoes and cucumber plants and even built a scarecrow to help protect them in our garden. The children were so proud of their teamwork!

Physical development was in full swing as we practiced our sports day races.
Indoors, we focused on fine motor skills through activities like cutting paper, threading, and pegboard challenges. These are all helping us to build our finger strength and coordination.

In PSED, we read the story Shine, learning that even though we are all different, we each have something special to share -- our light! In our Heartsmart session, we listened to the story Tiddler and talked again about how it is important to use our true words

To end the week, we celebrated VE Day with a special street party-style lunch and ended the day with dancing and party songs. We also took part in a minutes silence to reflect and remember.
The children joined in with enthusiasm and respect, making it a meaningful experience for all.

Next week we will be looking at spiders, and measuring our growing plants.

Thank you for another wonderful week. We're looking forward to more fun and learning as we continue our adventures together!
