This week in preschool, we've been busy with all things Easter and spring!
Our literacy focus included stories such as' Peely Wally' 'The Golden Egg', and 'The Odd Egg', which the children really enjoyed.
Our rhyme of the week was Sleeping Bunnies, which brought lots of smiles and giggles as we hopped and bounced along.
We also continued developing our phonics through oral blending with our Cross the River game, helping us hear and blend sounds together.

In maths, we explored pattern matching using Easter eggs, looking at stripes, spots, and zigzags, and even talked about other patterns we might find in nature, like tiger stripes or butterfly wings.
We also went on a positional language out door Easter egg hunt, asking questions like: was the egg in the basket, behind the tree, or under the table?

In our exploration of the natural world and the theme of new life, the children matched baby animals with their grown-up counterparts such as kittens with cats and chicks with chickens.
We also explored the Easter story, learning about its signs and symbols, eggs, hot cross buns, the cross, and new life, and how people might celebrate this special time of year.

For physical development, we had an Easter egg and spoon race where the children practiced their balancing skills.
Fine motor activities included threading, jumping frogs, our button snake game, and lots of lovely fiddly fun to build hand strength and coordination.

We've also enjoyed our usual outdoor fun this week, being builders, creating delicious mud kitchen concoctions, zooming around on the bikes, and sharing lots of imaginative play with friends.
A huge thank you to our PTA for our brand new teepee! The children have absolutely loved it, it's been everything from a sheltered reading nook to a cosy hideaway. It's already become a much-loved part of our outdoor area!

We hope you all enjoyed the Easter crafts the children worked so hard on. They put a lot of care and creativity into their work, to wish you all a peaceful and happy Easter break.

We hope you all have a wonderful Easter break!
When we return, we'll begin our new theme My Planet and Me. We'll be exploring the world right outside our door--our gardens, the plants we can grow, and all the minibeasts that live there like frogs, spiders, ladybirds, and bees. We can't wait
