Happy St Patrick's Day.

We have had a wonderful day celebrating St Patrick's Day. To begin our day, we watched Cbeebies and shared Orla''s St Patrick's Day celebrations. We learned that the national emblem of Ireland is the Shamrock, we decorated our own Shamrock to make a hat. We then found out that people share fairy tales about a mischievous leprechaun that lives at the end of the rainbow, with his pot of gold. We used a paper plate to create our own leprechaun – take a look in the pics.

As it is science week, we took part in an experiment to make our own rainbow. First, we placed skittles around the edge of a plate. Next, we carefully added water then watched in amazement as the water changed into lots of colours. We discussed that the shell of the skittle is made of sugar. When sugar is put in warm water, it dissolves. As the colours meet, they mix, creating different colurs.

During the afternoon we enjoyed listening to Irish music and took part in a Irish jig. To develop our fine motor skiils, we used cotton buds to create a rainbow.

Thank you for a wonderful day.
