Busy, busy, busy! We have covered so many areas of learning and you have smashed them all. Well done Year 6. Your dedication is impressive.

In Maths this week we continued with our percentages unit. We have found equivalent fractions, decimals and percentages and we have worked out how to find fractions of amounts using 10%, 20%, 50%, 25% and 1%. We will compete this unit next week. We have also enjoyed time playing TT Rock Stars. We have also completed two SATs questions each day where we have discussed our strategies. Homework has been set to consolidate our learning.

We have immersed ourselves into our new text in English and worked on analysing our writer's knowledge. We have planned our first two paragraphs and will continue with this next week.

We are busy assessing our spelling skills of our Year 1, 2, 3 and 4 words in spellings and we will continue with this next week.

Now both my parent evenings are complete we will send off all the returned SATs Buster Book orders. This will be done on Monday, so please ensure your order is in if you wish to order a set.

We have read with an adult in Book Club and changed our reading scheme books if needed.

In RE this week, we considered Passover and how Christians celebrate this celebration. We thought about what the word Freedom means to each of us and used this thought to create a piece of artwork.

In our Geography this week we recapped our knowledge on where the Alpine region is and then we went on to think about its mountainous range. We now know that it is made up of many fold mountains and that they were formed millions of years ago. We used playdough to create our own range where paper towels were our moving tectonic plates.

It has been Science week this week and our Science Ambassadors – Annie L and Aidan have run some wonderful short experiments over their lunchtimes. We also began a new Science unit on our Circulatory System. We focused on our blood and how it is made up of different components. We used different foods to represent them and blended them together to make our own blood smoothie. We used this new learning to then label a testube and we ended our lesson by playing an antigens and antibody game.

We have enjoyed two PE lessons this week with Mrs Whittingham. We have continued to learn new skills in hockey – the jab tackle and we have worked on our footwork rules in netball.

In Music this week we worked in our beatboxing groups to get ourselves organised by choosing a name, choosing a scenario, choosing our roles and choosing three sound effects to challenge ourselves. We also considered how to present the best beatboxing performance. We know we need teamwork, good communication skills and great listening.

We enjoyed our Computing lesson this week as we worked on improving a game in Scratch.. We added a scoreboard and using an algorithm to change the way the game played.

We enjoyed our DT lesson this week as we considered our waistcoat designs and chose our fabric. We have cut out our templates and we are now ready to use them next week.

We have enjoyed Wellbeing time and of course meeting up with our buddies on the trim trail and Fort Lewis.

Have a wonderful weekend.
Your teacher.
Mrs B.
