What a great way to end a busy week today with our class worship on the Archbishop's Young Leaders Award. I am so proud of you all. You have written it, practised it and delivered a brilliant message all about being a good leader and working together. Other areas of our learning have included...
In Maths this week we have continued to work our way through our algebra unit. We have used formula, equations, function machines and number balances to work out the value of an unknown amount. We are now becoming more confident with the process and bar models have helped with our understanding.
Our main objective of our English lessons this week has been planning and writing our Darwin discovery narrative. We have used doodles and subject specific words to enhance our ideas and formal language. One more paragraph to go before we edit and move on.
We have continued to think about the sh sound in spellings this week. Words with ti and ci sounds are our focus. We have also completed a SpaG paper.
In Computing this week, we continued to programme with variables. We used Scratch 3 to develop a project where we chose our own sprites to achieve different scores.
We enjoyed our Forest Schools session this week as we discussed which era of the Stone Age we think is the most influential. We created cave art in the form of flour handprints and animals made from natural materials and we even went off to hunt with bows and arrows and enjoyed a community campfire. We are bringing our history unit alive that's for sure.
What a fantastic Science lesson on inheritance this week. Thank you for all the photographs you have sent in. We began our lesson by thinking about inherited and acquired characteristics. We ordered them and then discussed our decisions. Did you know that tongue rolling is an inherited characteristic? We then used this learning to think about our baby photographs. The baby gallery was such a brilliant way to think about inheritance. Matching each photo gave us the opportunity to discuss features and their likeness to what we look like today. We will continue with our learning next week.
We have worked hard on our class worship and thoroughly enjoyed presenting it to you this today. What a wonderful way to share your passion and learning in such an interactive way.
We have evaluated our DT miniature playgrounds and hope you enjoyed seeing them on our display. I'm sure you are as impressed with them as I am.
In RE this week we continued to learn about the term Exodus. Using video captions were retold the story of the Exodus in preparation for our next lesson. We have a secure learning of this story and we will now link this to the Judaism faith.
Our PSHE lesson this week was all about being a good listener and why it is important to show this skill. We thought about the acronym TED which helps us to tell more, explain and describe. This helps us to show the speaker that we are interested and that we care. This fits with our Bible reference: the wise listen to others. Proverbs 12:15.
We have also enjoyed Music with Miss Holland, PE with Coach Gabriel and Wellbeing with Mrs Whittingham.
We enjoyed spending time with our buddies to finish a very busy week off.
Homework has been set.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Your teacher.
