Year 6, you have worked so hard this week and achieved many goals which is great to see. I am super proud of you.

In Maths this week we completed our percentages unit and we have begun our measures unit. We have recapped area and perimeter and used this knowledge to work out missing measurements. We will continue with this unit next week. New homework has been set.

We have now completed our documentary narrative in English this week and I am so proud of your pieces. There has been a real buzz about our writing and you have used you plans and our word banks effectively. Well done.

Our book club sessions this week have been dedicated to reading with an adult and we have continued to test our Year 3 and Year 4 spellings.

We began a new unit RE this week. We thought about Jesus and what other World Faiths say about him. We used a factsheet to gather our ideas. Great opinions Year 6.

In Science this week we considered the functions of our blood. We used last week's learning about the structure of our blood to add its function. After taking many notes, we used them to discuss our answers to different statements. We also enjoyed a short workshop lead by one of our parents on the profession of being a radiographer.

In Geography this week we considered the types of houses situated in the Alps and why they have been built in a certain way. We considered the climate and their use to help us to design our own and annotated our reasons for our choices.

In Computing this week, we began to design our own variables game using Scratch. We considered timers, scoreboards and which sprites we would like in our game. We also chose our own backgrounds and the way our game would work. We will create our game next week.

We continue our unit of telling the time in French this week.

We have created our waistcoat templates in DT this week. We chalked the outline of our templates and then showed where our stitches would go. We then cut them out and pinned them ready to sew next week.

We have taken part in a PSHE lesson this week and enjoyed using our Wellbeing journals.

In Music we made sure our beatboxing plans were completed before beginning to put together our performances of our chosen scenarios. Communication is key along with teamwork, and supporting each other is a must.

We have enjoyed two PE lessons this week. One playing netball and the other playing hockey. We focused on shoulder passes in netball and enjoyed mini games to practice our skills. In hockey we worked on different types of dribbling and used these to play a mini game.

We were invited into Year 5 this week to be art critics. We gave our feedback on a typography piece of artwork as we did the same unit last week. We all thought their artwork was impressive and really liked the names they chose for each area of their maps.

We ended our week with our usual buddy time. We enjoyed time on the adventure playground helping our buddies to enjoy the equipment.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend along with lots of rest in readiness for our Robinwood residential. We have spent some time today discussing our visit and asking and answering questions. We are all very excited, including Miss Pennance and myself. We just can't wait.

Your teacher,
Mrs B.
