We have tackled so many learning activities this week and worked so hard, even in the hot weather. Well done Year 6. You are all super stars.

We have completed our Statistics unit in Maths this week. I am so impressed with your knowledge Year 6. You are applying your skills and showing your strategies. Brilliant work.

Our book club sessions have introduced us to the book "The Great Sea Dragon Discovery." This book has taken us back into the Victorian Times at a time when Charles Darwin's book "The Origins of Species" was first published. We have considered characters and settings and the thoughts of both scientists and the Church on the term Evolution.

In English we are completely engaged in our King Kong story. We have now read most of this story and thought about characterisation.

In History this week, we considered items that would rot and those that would not. We discussed how some artefacts are preserved, and we researched an archaeologist find of the Amesbury Archer. We also discussed the term the Beaker people. We have presented our findings in our own chosen way.

In Art this week we continued with our unit Take a Seat. We are creating our sculptures as we go and without a plan. Freedom to mould and change is tricky. We will return to our models next week.

In DT this week we revisited our vocabulary by playing bingo. We were then split into groups and given a label. This told us which part of our meal we would create. We were then introduced to the term hero food and which one we would be using to make our dish. Research was next as we came up with two complimentary flavours. We will continue with our courses next week.

In Computing this week, we have continued to use Tinkercad. We have used different handles to modify objects and considered changing object colours.

We considered our village maps for our Young Leaders Award. We looked at our photos and thought about how to present our maps.

In RE this week, we continued to think about People of Faith. We recapped last week's learning and then went on to think about what Jesus says in the Bible. We used four different Bible stories and watched a short video before presenting our thoughts to the class.

In French this week we have become weather reporters. We have chosen a place in the world to report the weather.

In Science this week we spent time classifying living things. We went out and about to collect different leaves to analyse. We then went on to create a classification chart to classify our collections.

In PSHE this week, we thought about the phrase a bridge to yet. We now know that this is a term used to describe how we haven't quite achieved our goals yet. We went on to build bridges to show how working together as a team can get a job done.

We have enjoyed our PE sessions this week and our Music lesson too.

We ended our week spending time with our buddies in their reception garden. A lovely time had by all.

Year 6 you have all worked so hard and what a huge amount of curriculum we have covered. I hope you have a brilliant weekend.

Your teacher.
