A great week of focused learning in Year 6. I am so proud of you all.
In maths this week, we have completed 4 out of our 5 lessons on measure. We have worked between metric measures using our powers of ten to convert between the two. We have also worked with miles and kilometres knowing that every 5 miles equals approximately 8 kilometres. We have completed an end of unit check on fractions and discussed our answers.
In English this week we have decided on our refugee character to write our newspaper report on. We have analysed our example text and thought about its features and structures. We have completed a short write on our chosen character, and we are now ready to plan this piece of writing.
We have focused on the Boy in Striped pyjamas this week in book club and used this book to compare characters and settings.
We have completed our suffixes in spellings this week and practised using our knowledge in short spelling tests.
We have enjoyed many different afternoon lessons from Computing to DT and from RE to Geography. We have enjoyed Courageous Advocacy to Wellbeing, PE to Music. We ended our week with a science experiment and spent time with our buddies. We have been extremely busy without a moment to spare.
We have opened our Reading Advent Calendar each day and enjoyed listening to some extracts from new books and completed fun activities too. We are really enjoying this special time.
Most of us are up to date with all our homework. Please can you use this week to ensure your child has no outstanding pieces? I have not set any new homework for this week as we have focused on this so well over the term. Well done Year 6.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Your teacher.
