A jam-packed week of learning has taken place in Year 6, we haven't had a moment to spare! I am so proud of each and every one of you.
We have worked so hard in maths this week as we tackled different decimals from converting them to fractions to multiplying and dividing. We have completed many different types of starter questions, and we are slowly working our way through SATs style reasoning questions. We have begun our next unit on percentages and used our first lesson to recap our Year 5 knowledge. We ended our week enjoying Friday time on TT Rock Stars. Well done Year 6, you are all stars.
In English this week we completed our explanation plan and write. We have worked hard to incorporate our writer's knowledge and have completed our final edit. We then began our new unit thinking about being a documentary writer. Our book – The Way of the Wolves will help us to generate this piece.
We have focused on comprehension skills in our book club sessions using The Origins of the Species as our text driver. We have thought about adaptation and the impact these views had on people of that time. We have explored unknown vocabulary and used the text to define new words.
We have completed our unit on silent letters and assessed our knowledge. We have used different ways of pronouncing each silent letter to help us.
Our afternoons have been filled with many different subject areas. I can't believe how much learning we are able to pack in. You are amazing Year 6.
We have enjoyed RE, Science, PE, Music, Courageous Advocacy, DT, PSHE, Geography and we have even managed to tackle some Maths and SpaG SATs questions.
Our daily mile track time was shared in the sunshine with our favourite buddies.
I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend.
Your teacher.
