Welcome Back Year 6 – 6.6.25

Welcome back Year 6 to your final half term at Wybunbury Delves. A half term that is jam-packed with projects, visits, transitions to your high schools and of course our leavers service.

We have continued with our Shackleton writing unit and we are well underway with our paragraphs. We have up levelled our vocabulary by considering the context of our story and thought about emotive language to bring our pieces alive. Brilliant job Year 6.

We have focused our maths learning on revisiting some concepts we have already covered. I am ensuring my children are secure in different areas of our maths curriculum – this week we covered number and place value, addition and subtraction and line graphs. We will continue to revisit other areas next week. We have also taken part in a TT Rock Stars House Battle across the week. Well done to the Red House Team as they took first place.

We have now all read with an adult in book club. I would like to ask for your support to ensure your children are reading their Big Cat books. We are aiming to finish our year on a high and thinking about being as high school ready as possible.

We have enjoyed an RE lesson which focused on completing our Questful Maps as a final part of our Summer 1 learning. We will begin a new unit next week.

We have taken part in two PE lessons – one with Coach Beth and one with Mrs Whittingham.

We continued with our History Unit this week focusing on the Bronze Age. We watched a short video showing an historical dig on Dartmoor and the unearthing of a Kist. We then became historians and created an information leaflet to recall these facts.

We enjoyed a Money Matters workshop delivered by staff from the Nationwide. Thank you for our goody bags. We have also completed our Drugs lessons in science. This week we focused on Volatile Substance abuse.

In Music we have begun to think about our Leavers Service and which songs we want to include. We have begun to try a few out and will add more as we move through our term.

In Art this week we created our own chair designs reflecting our mood.

We ended our week enjoying another Young Leaders Award lesson. We are now onto our third session which is all about our community. We considered which areas we would like to visit to see where we can make a difference. Next week we will venture out into the village.

Our busy week came to an end with spending time with our buddies. We ventured into the hall to avoid the rain and enjoyed sharing storybooks.

Well Year 6, after a very busy first week. I would just like to say that I am super proud of all that you have achieved. You have worked so hard and I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
