This week has flown by, and we have packed so much into it. You have worked hard in many different areas of your learning, and I am so proud of you all.

We began our week in maths by tackling different problems using ratio and proportion. We have used different scenarios to compare amounts. We then went on to think about shape and enlargements and used Geoboards to investigate and deepen our knowledge. We have reviewed our arithmetic paper and played on TT Rock Stars too. Amazing Year 6.

In English this week we continued with our discovery narrative. We have analysed our example text and thought about the writer's knowledge. We have worked hard on using formal speech to characterise Darwin. We have used role play and our thesaurus skills to up level key vocabulary. We will continue with this unit next week.

In our book club sessions, we have begun to learn about the early life of Charles Darwin. We have answered two anchor questions after analysing the text.

In RE this week, we have thought about the term Exodus. We have considered the question "Why did God choose Moses and used our session to record what we already know about him. We have had some great suggestions about his life and we will continue with our learning next week.

We enjoyed using our glockenspiels again this week in music. Our focus was on compositions.

In Geography we used our research from last week to learn more about protecting our Oceans. We moved on from endangered animals to the threats these animals face and found out more about climate change, overfishing, bycatching and much more. We will complete this unit next week with a short assessment.

We have used Google sites to create our own webpages in computing this week. We have used headers and text boxes to add images and key information.

We have taken part in our Kick PE lesson which we all enjoyed. We have also completed our Bikeability level two course which saw us venturing into the village on our bikes. We have now all received our certificates and new badges to wear with pride. Well done Year 6.

We have enjoyed our forest schools lesson this week with Mr Hadfield with a history focus. We began by reading another section of Stone Age Boy and found different tools and weapons we thought we might like to make. We then went on to add to our nomadic settlements and to work with clay to re-create all sorts of tools and weapons. Great afternoon in the sunshine.

We have enjoyed Wellbeing this week and worked in our own journals. We have also begun a new PSHE unit thinking about ways in which we can show love for others. We all agree that love strengthens our hearts and the hearts of those around us. Love your neighbour as yourself. Mark 12:31.

What a busy week you have had, and I am super proud of all that you have achieved. You have worked so hard. Well done Year 6.

New homework has been set with a focus on ratio.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Your teacher,
Mrs. B.
