In Maths, we began the week by partitioning numbers in a variety of ways, building our skills to combine different elements of our place value knowledge.. We used place value grids and part whole model resources to help us. We then moved on to compare and order numbers to 1 million. We did practical tasks to understand the values of large numbers. We then moved on to learn about blank number lines. Again, practical activities help us to learn about adding known facts to help us add labels to our number lines.

As writers, our main focus has been studying the features of our current narrative text. In one of our sentence accuracy tasks, we paid close attention to how speech is punctuated.. We have explored the example text to find writing skills to add to our toolkit. We have also used role play to gain a confident understanding of how our astronauts would feel and act when they landed on the moon. At the end of the week, we have started to plan our own space narrative.

We've thoroughly enjoyed using a non fiction book in our reading sessions to deepen our understanding of Queen Victoria and the Victorian times.

Global trade, maps, and clothing all featured in our Geography lessons this week. We revisited our understanding of global trade and enjoyed investigating where the UK imports its clothing from. By examining items of clothing in class, we discovered that many were made and imported from Bangladesh, China, and Turkey. Using maps, we identified how far these items had travelled to reach the UK.

In Computing, we explored systems by describing the input, process, and output involved in creating a digital toy. After a great discussion, we went on to invent our own digital toys.We also examined how a digital locker works, thinking carefully about the inputs, processes, and outputs involved.

Forest school was a wet one this week but we still enjoyed our time outside and made the most of the weather. This week, we started by revisiting the 7 life processes of living things. We used Mrs Gren to help us remember these characteristics. We then went on to explore the living things in forest school. We found so many amazing creatures and plants. We built our living things a place to enjoy. We then also enjoyed building fires and toasting marshmallows.

In our RE lesson this week, we have explored names given to the Bible. We considered what this told us about messages within the Bible. We then looked at specific quotes from the Bible which told us what Christians believe about the messages within the Bible.

This week in music, we learnt the Ghost Parade song.

We enjoyed another History lesson this week learning more about life in the Victorian era as well as moving on to learn about how Victorians inventions impacted lives.

During our Art lessons this week, we learnt about the focus for our current unit. We are making our own booklets based on a poem showcasing the printing and mark making we have been learning about. We enjoyed hearing the poem that our book will be based on.

Maths.co.uk homework has been set.

Have a wonderful weekend.
