We have concluded our multiplication and division unit in Maths to apply all our new skills to choose the most efficient methods. We worked hard to used factor pairs and we used our knowledge of multiplication to choose the best method. We have then moved on to our new unit or perimeter. We have learnt how to convert between measurements of meters and kilometers. We have then learnt to measure perimeter on a grid and then when knowing two measurements of rectangles.

As writers, we were excited to complete our myth narrative using all of our writer's knowledge. We have also had a focus on using our spelling lists to practise writing our common exception words. We have then moved on to plan and write our very own myth narrative with no restrictions on our characters or setting. We have enjoyed letting our imaginations run away with us for this task!

In spellings, we have looked at the alternative spellings for ay, which include eigh, ei and ey.

We had a very productive design and technology afternoon this week. We worked on our design criteria and then moved towards creating designs, whilst learning about how to stay safe when using our glue guns. Our pavilions are beginning to take shape, and we will look forward to working on them again next week.

Our brass instrument lesson was a busy one again this week! We worked really hard when following Kevin to make sure we played the correct note lengths. We played notes C and D – some were played short (staccato) and some we played long (legato). We moved on to learn note E. We then played C, D, E and then in reverse order. We used these notes to play Hot Cross Buns.

To celebrate wellbeing this week, we wore our own clothes on Friday. We then took part in a task in class which involved us thinking about being self-aware. Being self-aware means getting to know and understand what we are good at, what we find difficult, our likes and dislikes, what makes us feel joy and what may cause us sadness. It is also about understanding what makes us unique and our fears, hopes and dreams.

In History this week, we learnt what crime and punishment was like in the Anglo-Saxon justice system. We learnt about tithing, hue and cry, wergild and Anglo-Saxon punishments. There were some gruesome ways to punish people in the past!

In PE this week, Year 4 have officiated their own matches of dodgeball with British Dodgeball rules. They have worked to show respect and good sportsmanship to each other, the different teams and the referees.

Year 4 have been really lucky to take part in YoungVoices this week. We went to Manchester and have taken part in the largest school choir in the world. We loved taking part, joining in with the songs and dancing! We hope that everyone who came to watch had a fantastic time too.

After our busy and late night at YoungVoices, our PE lesson today was Yoga. We enjoyed going on a story and seeing how the actions developed. Our Netball lessons will return next week.

RE has been a focus of this week. As part of interfaith week, we started by thinking about stories we already knew. There were lots! We then learnt that all faiths have a wealth ofstories with meanings that help the believers learn more about God and the way in whichthey should live their lives as a follower of that religion. We explored stories from both Sikhism and Islamic faith. We enjoyed thinking about what we liked about the story, what we could learn from it, what is taught us about each faith and what values are emphasised. At the end, we reflected on why stories are an important part of people's faith and how they convey important messages.

In our computing lesson this week, we evaluated our podcasts. Using a set of criteria, we evaluated whether we and other groups had – used clear voices, removed unwanted sounds, checking we chose suitable music and sound effects. We really enjoyed listening to them.

Maths.co.uk homework has been set this week. Please also remember to practice Soundcheck on TT Rockstars!

Have a wonderful weekend!
