In English, we have explored our vehicle text to apply our emotive language within sentences and as part of a paragraph of writing. Role play has also helped us to portray the character's feelings, body language and emotive language. We have also explored the different writers knowledge within the text and found examples of these. We worked very hard to create a piece of atmospheric description and incorporated lots of features that we are currently working on. On Friday, we planned our own diary entries and carefully considered the skills we would use.
As Mathematicians, we have looked at how data is displayed within line graphs and bar charts this week. Looking at the labels on x and y axis has helped us to understand what each chart is showing. We have also thought about which type of chart we prefer. We then learnt how to interpret information from them and answer a wide range of questions.
In our PSHE time we have looked at the bible quote 'And so encourage one another and help one another, just as you are now doing' from 1 Thessalonians 5:11 as a starting point to think about how we can encourage one another. We talked openly about who encourages us and how we can encourage others using inspiration from finding Nemo.
During Wellbeing, we have reflected on our transition to the next year group by creating an all about me rainbow full of things that we would like to share with Miss Pennance.
In Geography, we have returned to our enquiry question to showcase all of learning about volcanoes and earthquakes, and there was lots to share, well done Year 4!
Our Science investigation is well underway this week. We have conducted observations to see what is happening to each egg and worked like scientists to think about why the egg shell may have changed. We used this to record our results.
We also enjoyed taking part in an online draw along with Access art. They estimated that we took part alongside over 22,000 children! We were able to practise our drawing skills, and explore mark making alongside completing observational drawings.
During our curriculum Art lessons this week, we completed our food sculptures. We took time and care to make sure they were realistic and showed fantastic details. Next week, we will be holding our still life picnic. Please see your emails about what we need to bring.
We have enjoyed PE on three occasions this week. We loved taking part in sports day on Tuesday and showing fantastic team work and skills. Well done to everyone and a special congratulations to our winning house – yellow team. With Coach James, we continued to develop our rounders skills.
In our computing lesson this week, we have completed lesson 2 of our coding unit. This week, we learnt about how to use forever loops to programme something to continually move. We were given three programmed robots. Had to spot the programme used and then edit the programme to make sure they kept moving.
In our RE lessons this week, we started our new unit of Prayer. We thought about what prayer is and how people pray in different ways. We looked at what the bible told us about prayer by exploring different extracts. We then explored different ways of encouraging prayer in school. We looked at examples of prayer stations and are now planning to create our own.
Maths.co.uk homework has been set for this week.
Have a lovely weekend.
