In reading, we have become familiar with the text The Saga of Erik the Viking by Terry Jones. Exploring the front cover, blurb and unfamiliar language helped us to get to know that Erik was determined to go in search of land. We have then read extracts throughout the book learning more about his journeys and focusing on how the author portrays the characters feelings alongside summarising paragraphs.
Our focus in our football PE lesson was turning and changing direction. We practised dribbling and turning with the ball in order to move away from players. We enjoying playing games, working in teams and creating 'N' turns with a partner.
We have also enjoyed a second PE session with Kick coach Gabe this week and our PE lesson on gymnastics with Mrs Whittingham.

In our History lesson this week, we reflected on how we should remember the Vikings. The children thought about how the Vikings were warriors, farmers, travellers, craftsmen and much more. We created knowledge organisers to celebrate everything we have learnt about the Vikings.
In our Heartsmart lesson this week, we took part in an exercise in 'love languages' which is based on the principles from 'Five Love Languages' by Gary Chapman.(Northfield Publishing, 2015).The book identities five love languages and explains that each of us has one or two main ones that tell us that we are loved. They are:
We individually reflected on our own love language and a time when we have felt loved. 'And from far away the Lord appeared to his people. He said, "I love you people with a love that will last forever. I became your friend because of my love and kindness.' Jeremiah 31:3
We have continued to work on our final piece in Art this week. We are continuing to use rules to develop our pattern ideas. We also looked at the work of Andy Gilmore to inspire our ideas. We loved exploring his graphic patterns and use of colour.
Baking was our focus in DT this week! We have made our first biscuit. We worked in teams of 5 and we each given a role to play. We worked through the recipe and created the most delicious products. At the end, we had time to taste them and think about what else we could add to our biscuits to make them more unique!
