What great authors we have been this week! Our portal narrative has been an exciting way to incorporate expanded noun phrases, speech and a sense of magic within our writing. We have completed five fantastic paragraphs of writing.

In Maths, we went on to learn about polygons. We found regular and irregular shapes. We have also learnt about finding lines of symmetry as well as how we can complete symmetrical shapes.

In our Reading time this week, we enjoyed sharing our big cat books.

As scientists, we explored homemade switches and applied our knowledge of conductors and insulators to describe how they might work. Our task was to write predictions and then create diagrams of how the switch can work. We also looked at circuit diagrams and what the symbols represent.

In our Art lesson this week, we became sculptors. We have finished our food sculptures using lots of wonderful resources. We just experimented and had a brilliant afternoon. We are so impressed with how they look so far!

As part of our HeartSmart lesson this week, we focused on whether habits help or hinder us to achieve our goals. We thought about goals we want to achieve and how we are going to nurture some of our good habits to ensure we achieve this and adapt some of our other habits. 'So let us run the race that is before us and never give up. We should remove from our lives anything that would get in the way.' Hebrews 12:1

History this week was based on oracle bones. We learnt about Wang Yirong's discovery of them which led to a large archeological dig and lots of additional history being uncovered. We wrote about this in our books and researched the events using the iPads. We ended our lesson by considering the reliability and usefulness of these sources.

In music this week, we played Hot across Buns as our warm-up before moving on to recap note E. Following an entertaining video of Old MacDonald had a Farm, we learnt note D. We then followed onscreen sheet music to play the melody. We also learnt about the pentatonic scale too.

In our second Science lesson this week, we completed our end of unit assessment on Sound bringing together everything that we had learnt this term.

In our DT lesson this week, we started our new sewing unit. The first lesson was about exploring fastenings used on clothing and other fabric-based products. We discussed the effectiveness of each different type. These will come in useful in our later designs.

We had a Cricket session with Crewe Vagrants Cricket club. It was a fantastic workshop which developed lots of skills from bowling, to accuracy with hitting the ball, fielding and we were even able to take part in a game. Thank you for coming to school Crewe Vagrants!

We also enjoyed our second PE lesson with Coach Beth this week.

Maths.co.uk homework has been set.
