As writers, we have explored the features of our example text, written a list poem and created a setting description which are all based on our portal narrative story. We have worked hard to incorporate verbs and extended noun phrases which link to magical items and the sounds they make.
In Maths, we have embarked on our new geometry unit this week. Within our lessons, we have become familiar with acute and obtuse angles as well as three types of triangle; scalene, isosceles, and equilateral triangles. Spotting these triangles in the school grounds was a great way to get identify and compare their properties.
What achievements we have made on TT Rockstars this week! It has been lovely to celebrate your achievements in preparation for our special Year 4 times table job. We then completed this on Friday. We are really proud of each and every one of you.
To build on our knowledge of world faiths, we have learnt about the Islam faith in RE this week. We explored the special features within a Mosque, together with the five pillars of Islam, and the main beliefs. It was great to begin to make comparisons with other faiths and listen to your in depth responses.
We gathered a range of atlases to help us explore river erosion and mountain ranges in Geography this week. We learnt all about mountain ranges from around the world and worked hard to identify the highest peaks.
In PSHE, our focus was to know the consequences of dares and know how to say no to dares. This links to 'Do not be shaped by this world; instead be changed within by a new way of thinking. Then you will be able to decide what God wants for you; you will know what is good and pleasing to him and what is perfect.' Romans 12:2.Your thoughtful responses not only prompted lots of discussion, but we were also able to share ways to recognise when a dare is no longer fun and what words we might say to say no.
We also reviewed our knowledge of insulators and conductors in Science. We sorted objects that are conductors or insulators, and those that might act as both.
After our PE warm up outside the heavens opened, so we practised our forehand inside with some table tennis. The first person to 5 won the match before swapping players.
We enjoyed another Music lesson with Miss Holland and a PE lesson with Coach Beth.
On Friday afternoon, we worked more on our food sculptures. They are really coming together now and we can see the shapes of what we are creating. We look forward to adding the final touches to these this week.
We have also enjoyed a French lesson this week. We have learnt how to say the colour of food including describing it as light, bright or dark.
Have a lovely week!
