We completed our statistics unit by adding data into various line graphs. We also thought about how the information helps us to make estimates. We then moved back on to our geometry unit and learnt about drawing 2D shapes on a grid, translating on a grid and describing translation.

In English, we have worked hard on our last piece of writing in Year 4 – a diary entry. We were able to showcase our writing skills to use lots of emotive language. At the end of each paragraph, we spent time editing our work and the results were wonderful.

We concluded our PE unit to recap all the skills we have learnt to play cricket. Playing a game of continuous cricket gave us lots of opportunity to swap roles and work brilliantly as a team. At the end of the lesson, it was great to hear such a range of reflections to explain how we think our skills have improved.

In French, our main focus was to learn the items in a pencil case to help us answer the question What's in my pencil case? We played games, matched pictures and wrote French vocabulary.

In one of our Science lessons, we completed our conclusions to decide which substance causes the most tooth decay?

Art has been amazing this week! We have taken part in a still-life picnic! Please take a look at the pictures to see what a fantastic time we had. We laid out our food which had been brought in – thank you for this – and we had the opportunity to choice different media to draw/paint what we could see. At the end, we held a gallery with our food sculptures and invited Y3 to see our work!

We have covered our 3 RSE lessons over the course of the week.

Computing has also been a feature of our week. We have covered three lessons. We started by learning how to make an animation of our name. We recapped the use of a forever loop and count-controlled loop. We then learnt how to add a sprite, make it change colour using a code and added a background. In our second lesson, we have learnt about modifying codes to change a sprite's actions. This was with sharks. We had to identify the repetition, change the actions of the sharks to forever codes and then add a new sea creature to the game. In our last lesson this week, we designed our own coded game. We needed to make sure we had three sprites, that they appeared and disappeared and that they made a sound when touched. We have loved learning how to do all of this on Scratch this week.

In our RE lesson this week, we have focused more on prayer. We invited Mrs Hughes into class to share her thoughts on prayer as a Christian. We asked some great questions and learnt a lot. We then had the opportunity to explore some prayer books and write our reflections on these. The majority of our afternoon was then focused on creating our own prayer stations. The children worked brilliantly to think of ideas and work as part of a team to create these.

Maths.co.uk homework has been set for this week.

Have a wonderful weekend.
