In English, we've been stepping into the world of non-fiction by writing report sentences to describe magic tricks. We explored how to use alternative nouns and fronted adverbials to make our writing clear, precise, and engaging. We have then planned and started to write our own magic show reports.
In Maths, our focus has been on statistics, particularly line graphs. We have read and interpreted data, make sensible estimates, and worked on our understanding of why line graphs are especially useful for showing changes over time or measurements. Looking at the labels on x and y axis has helped us to understand what each chart is showing. We have also thought about which type of chart we prefer. We then learnt how to interpret information from them and answer a wide range of questions. We completed our statistics unit by adding data into various line graphs. We then moved back on to our geometry unit and learnt about describing positions and using coordinates.
We have learnt about adding 'sion' to spellings this week.
We have enjoyed reading our big cat books this week ready to return them on Monday.
In PSHE, as part of Health and Relationships Week, we've been learning about the human life cycle and some key facts about puberty. You approached this topic with maturity and curiosity, asking thoughtful questions and showing great respect for one another.
In DT, we've been busy designing and testing paper templates for our book sleeve project. After checking the fit using our reading records, we made a few tweaks before moving on to pinning our templates onto fabric--ready for the next stage.
Art has been amazing this week! We have taken part in a still-life picnic! Please take a look at the pictures to see what a fantastic time we had. We laid out some food and we had the opportunity to choose different media to draw/paint what we could see. At the end, we held a gallery with our food sculptures and invited Y5 to see our work!
In our computing media unit, we learnt about recolouring. We focused on the effects that recolouring images has. We thought about the impact that different effects had and used our 'BeFunky' app to change the colours of four different images. We created images for different briefs like 'A place of pixies and magic'.
In music this week, we were very lucky to have Mrs. Chesters watch us perform Old MacDonald had a Farm on our recorders. We then got another surprise as Mrs. Chesters joined in with us playing the flute! We loved playing along with her.
Our Heartsmart job this week was about focusing on what the 'dreams of our hearts' are. We learnt that dreams are not just something we have at night timewhen we are asleep, dreams can also be found in our hearts. A dream of our heart means something that we wouldlove to see happen in or through our lives. Never doubt God's mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this.He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your mostunbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! Ephesians 3:20
In our French lesson this week, we have learnt how to describe parts of our classroom.
In our RE lesson this week, we have focused more on prayer. We invited Mrs Lawlor into class to share her thoughts on prayer as a Christian. We asked some great questions and learnt a lot. We then had the opportunity to explore some traditional Christian prayers and write our versions of these.
Year 4, you have truly shone your light this week. Your readiness to learn, your confidence, and your thoughtful questions have made us incredibly proud.
