We have had a wonderful week with a wonderful worship; this week, it was our class worship which was based around the fruits of the spirit. During our worship, we used the metaphor of dressing in the clothes that God gives us – the fruits of the spirit. We then focused on 'joy' and shared some of the wonderful things that make us happy. At the end, we sang a wonderful song. You all spoke clearly and sang beautifully. Great work, team!

In our lessons this week. We have continued to work hard and try our best.
In our English lessons, we have been very busy being authors. First, we continued planning our stories. We focused on developing our characters and creating well-structured paragraphs. Using descriptive language and some of the techniques practised in earlier lessons, you wrote paragraphs that have hooked your reader. You have done an amazing job so far! These are going to be great stories.

This week in Maths, we've been getting to grips with number lines. To help us place numbers accurately on blank number lines, we learnt a clever folding technique. This involved folding a strip of paper in half to find the midpoint, and then in half again to locate the quarter and three-quarter marks. It was a hands-on way to understand the concept, and you all did a brilliant job! We then moved on to scaled number lines, where we focused on identifying intervals and using them to work out missing values. You showed great determination throughout. Well done, team!

In RE this week, we continued exploring why Christians believe Jesus is the Son of God. We thought carefully about where Jesus gets his power and authority from, and turned to the Bible for answers. We read the story of Jesus being baptised by John the Baptist (Matthew 3:13-17), where the heavens open and God's voice is heard saying, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased." We talked about how powerful this moment is and how it shows that Jesus really is the Son of God. You shared thoughtful ideas and made great connections!

In DT, we continued building our pavilions. We have nearly all built them so it will soon be time to start adding the cladding to our structures.

This week in HeartSmart, we explored the importance of recognising and avoiding people trying to get their way unfairly through the story of the Wily Wolf. After discussing the wolf's tactics. We talked about how our hearts should be guarded but not closed off. As we reflected, we were reminded of this wisdom from the Bible: "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." from Proverbs 4:23. This reminded us that it's important to be wise about who we trust while still being open to connection and kindness.

Our Forest School this week involved us delving into our science topic. We began learning how scientists classify living things by exploring how we can sort objects based on their features. Then, we discovered that scientists do something very similar when they sort and classify living things! Next, we set off around the school grounds to identify different leaves. Once collected, we had a go at generating questions that would help us sort them. Finally, back in the classroom, we created classification keys to sort our leaves (just like real scientists)! It was a great lesson full of curiosity, teamwork, and thoughtful questions.

In our first PE lesson of the week, we focused on football and explored the importance of dribbling and passing. You worked hard to keep control of the ball while moving and practised making accurate passes to teammates. It was great to see your teamwork and determination shining through and we enjoyed putting our skills into practice during a mini game. Later in the week, we had our next hockey session with Coach Beth.

In Music this week, we got the glockenspiels back out and had a fantastic time practising the D minor scale. You listened carefully, followed the notes, and showed great focus as you played. It was wonderful to hear the beautiful melodies starting to come together. Well done, everyone – what a tuneful start to our music learning this term!

Hope you have a lovely weekend,

Miss Pennance
