We have moved onto persuasive leaflets in English this week. We firstly looked at different leaflets, before deciding how we can create a leaflet to help children find out more about PGL. We planned and wrote our leaflets as a guide to Y3 and the experience they have to look forward to in Year 4!

Our money lessons have enabled us to order amounts using pence and pounds and pence. We can use our key facts to convert between pence and pounds and pence. We have also learnt about using rounding the help us to estimate money andwe have practiced calculating with money and we worked hard to answer multi-step problems. We have then completed our Maths learning on money this week.

In reading, we have focussed on independent reading.

In our spelling lessons this week, we have been learning about the 'que' and 'cue' ending of words.

In our RE lesson this week, we spoke about the qualities of people who go to church. We drew pictures of what we felt these people may look like. We realised that everyone is welcome in church and showcased this through our drawings. We have also completed our first questful map for this half term.

In our afternoon on Monday, we took part in our sports day field events. We enjoyed taking part in long jump, javelin and shot put. On Wednesday we took part in our KS2 Sports Day. It was amazing to see every take part in the morning in some way and there were so many successful moments to celebrate! Well done to the Red house for your win this year!

In our Art lesson this week, we completed our artist reflection pages on Claes Oldenburg. We then went on to explore the work of Lucio Herro. We thought about what we liked about her work as well as what we didn't. We watched videos of her galleries and her talking about her work. We created another artist reflection page in our Art books.

History helped us to explore different sources this week to help us to learn about Shang Kings. We thought about the different sources we know and how reliable they are. We then explored some resources to see what we could learn from them about Shang gods and kings. We spent time to discuss the reliability of sources. We found the story a particularly interesting source to discuss. We ended our lesson by discussing what we had learnt and comparing the reliability of our sources.

In our HeartSmart lesson this week, we started to read the story of 'Emperors new clothes' by Hans Christian Anderson. We enjoyed hearing the story and continued to pause and think about its meaning. We think the focus of this lesson will be based on telling the truth.

In music this week, we looked back on our learning about improvisation. We had used dance, acting, expression, rhythms, melodies, to name a few. We learnt where a graphic score originated from and had a go at creating our own and adding instruments to match each sign or symbol.

In our Science lesson this week, we learnt about how we can change the pitch of something and enjoyed using the instruments to practice this.

In Computing this week, we have learnt how to use infinite and count-controlled loops to be able to animate our own names. We loved changing their costumes and coding them to move in particular ways.

No maths.co.uk homework has been set but please play TT Rockstars as much as you can.

We have had another busy week in Year 4 and are looking forward to half term. We hope you all have a wonderful week and enjoy whatever you get up to! See you all soon.
