What a brilliant week it's been in Year 3--full of teamwork, reflection, and impressive progress across the board!

We had a real treat this week with a cricket session led by coaches from Crewe and Nantwich Vagrants. You learnt how to hold the bat properly and use it effectively to strike the ball, as well as key throwing and catching techniques. You brought all of these skills together in a fast-paced and exciting game of diamond cricket. It was fantastic to see your confidence grow and your teamwork shine!

In English, you wrote some beautifully descriptive settings of the forest, ready to use in your lost narratives next week. You carefully chose words and phrases to shift the tone and atmosphere as your characters journeyed deeper into the forest. You have also taken great care on planning the start of your lost narrative. A real highlight was hearing you share your writing with the class--such a special moment and one that made me incredibly proud.

In maths, we continued our work on telling the time, focusing on reading time to five and one-minute intervals. You had plenty of hands-on practice using our teaching clocks, and your progress across the week has been amazing--well done!

In spelling, we focused on the Year 3 and 4 'orange words'. You showed great independence revisiting words you already know well and took on the challenge of tackling some of the trickier ones from the list. Great perseverance!

In RE, we explored more proverbs from the Book of Proverbs. You reflected on which ones you liked (and which ones you weren't so sure about!) and thought deeply about their meanings. You also tackled our big question for this unit: "Is the Book of Proverbs still relevant today?" Your thoughtful answers showed great maturity. To finish, you created your own proverbs to add to our very special Wall of Wisdom--what a fun and reflective way to end the unit!

Did you know that children in Anglo-Saxon times were responsible for looking after animals and protecting them from wolves? This was one of our fascinating facts as we learnt about villages during the Anglo-Saxon era. We also discovered that the Anglo-Saxon tribes settled into five main kingdoms, which later became seven. Through this detective work, we learnt that Wybunbury would have been part of Mercia in Anglo-Saxon times.

We have begun our No way through isn't true topic in PSHE this week. We listened carefully to each other when we described times when we have got stuck. We also showed confidence to talk about how important perseverance is. This links to Love never gives up; and its faith, hope, and patience never fail. Love is eternal. 1 Corinthians 13:7-8 A snakes and ladders game board also helped us to recognise that sometimes there are times where we feel we make good steps forward, and there are other times where we may have a setback. We relate this to The Lord himself will lead you and be with you. He will not fail you or abandon you, so do not lose courage or be afraid. Deuteronomy 31:8.

Our focus song in music – The Firebird Suite: Finale – brought about a lot of conversation. We could hear the texture changes and how this piece of music could be used to create tension in a movie due to its dramatic sound. What brilliant listening and imagination!

This week also included your exciting transition session in Year 4. You had such a lovely time getting to know Miss P and exploring your new classroom. You came back full of smiles and stories, and I was so proud of how confident and enthusiastic you all were. What a brilliant way to begin looking ahead!

We have also had time to add signs to our habitat areas which we have created as part of our Courageous advocacy work. All your hard work this year can now be enjoyed by the minibeasts and hedgehogs that we share our school grounds with.

Maths homework this week will give you even more practice in telling the time and has been sent out via email to parents.

Have a lovely weekend--rest, relax, and be proud of everything you've done this week!
