What a fantastic week back filled with so much fun and learning!

On Monday, in maths you explore pictograms! You have really improved on your pictogram knowledge now and can use tally charts too! In RE, we started our unit about The Easter Story. We recreated Leonardo Davinci's Last Supper in the classroom and dramatised the story up to this point. In music we warmed up our voices by singing 'Three Little Birds' . We then got the ukuleles out and tried to tune them ~ we learnt how to pitch the note higher and lower by turning the pegs at the end. We managed the top G. Our HeartSmart learning for this week was all about giving and receiving. Which one is best? How can we show love to others? Boris the robot helped us to think about ways we can give and receive. Showing love to others can take many forms like: a gift, time, attention, offering help, listening, to name a few. We plan to be HeartSmart by remembering that we are important, but so are other people. Bible Reference: 'Love your neighbour as yourself.' Mark 12:31

On Tuesday, you had a very special visitor that came in to see you all! Miss McCurrie and baby Noah! This was a super good surprise and you were all so kind and careful around him. Noah was definitely used to your talking as he was very relaxed! In maths, you compared multiplication and division statements using the less than and greater than symbols. In book club you explored the different Gods and Goddesses in Ancient Egypt. In English, you discovered we are learning about non fiction texts and you showed me what you already know about information texts and had a go at writing one. In geography, you explored the world map and looked specifically at the different hemispheres and the tropics of cancer and capricorn. You did so well at remembering the 5 different continents. In science, you completed a hot task all about light. You showed off everything you have learnt about light, well done year 3!

On Wednesday, in maths you explored related multiplication calculations. You explored how you can use your place value skills to help answer tricky multiplication problems. In book club, you looked at the importance of subheadings in nonfiction texts. In English, you received a very special letter from Dave at Manchester Museum who has asked us to write an information text all about the Pyramids of Giza! He has told you that you need to practice your non fiction writing before you create your final piece about the Pyramids of Giza. In history, you worked in teams to create a poster about an Ancient Egyptian topic of your choice. These have turned out so well and I can't wait for you to present them on Friday! In computing you had another e-safety lesson and we looked at what a digital footprint was. We soon learnt it wasn't like a real footprint as they last forever!

On Thursday it was world book day! Didn't you all look amazing in your costumes! You started the day with a book themed maths quiz to start the morning. You all worked so hard on these. Then in book club you explored 'The Kings' of Ancient Egypt. In English we had lots of world book day themed fun! Firstly, we voted on the best world book day spoon from year 3! These were all amazing and it was SO hard to choose. Then, we had lots of books out on our tables and we used the books to find different things in a scavenger hunt! Wow! What a great English lesson that was! In the afternoon, you started to learn different classroom commands in French. Can you remember how to say sit down and stand up? In Science, you started your new topic of forces and magnets. You explored and learnt about what a force is and the two different types of forces, push and pull. Then, in pairs, sorted different movements into push forces and pull forces.

On Friday it was your theme day! What a wonderful day we have had! In the morning you started the day with Egyptian themed activities. Then you presented your posters all about different Egyptian people, Gods and clothing! You all did so well standing up and speaking to the whole class! Then you created your final art piece of 2 scarab beetles, one painted with watercolours and the other with acrylic paint. You used your colouring mixing skills to make new colours! Well done year 3! In the afternoon, you watched our film 'Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb'. You enjoyed some fantastic treats, a big thank you to everyone who brought in snacks and treats!

Just a reminder that I am doing an art club after school on Monday's if you would like to attend. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and I will see you on Monday for another fun filled week!
