What a wonderful Christmassy week we have had in Y3!
We finished our maths unit on multiplication so we are ready to start fractions after Christmas. We covered our timetables, mainly x3, x4 and x8. We have been really impressed with your knowledge and focus and concentration in our maths lessons this term Y3, well done for working so hard.
In science this week, we continued on with our forces and magnets unit. We recapped contact and non contact forces. We learnt about friction and measured in newtons how much force was needed to move our school bags across different surfaces. We then used this information to think about which surface would be best for Santa's sleigh to ride across! We then investigated magnets, north and south poles, attract, repel and what items are magnetic and not magnetic.
In our history lessons, we continued on to learn about the Romans. We learnt about religion in Roman times. We learnt they worshipped different gods and goddesses for different areas of their life. We also learnt how they made the celts believe in these too!
I am amazing! This was a focus in our final Heartsmart lesson of the term. We thought about all the things that make us amazing. We listened to how we can let love into our hearts and reviewed our learning to write some Heartsmart next steps. I'm sure you'll all agree that a fantastic job the children did of sharing the Christmas story with you on Tuesday. It was a pleasure to watch you all shine in your roles, acting and singing. Well done Y3, I was so proud of all of you.
Wednesday was Panto day! We really enjoyed Cinderella, it made us laugh a lot! Thank you to the PTA for funding this for us, what a special morning it was! It was followed by Christmas dinner and then forest school! We were then so lucky to be joined by a special Christmas Mystery Reader! Thank you Mr Malseed for coming to join us. We enjoyed it so much that the children have asked for more mystery readers after Christmas watch this space! Today, we enjoyed lots of festive celebrations including our KS2 Christmas party and a whole school rendition of the twelve days of Christmas.
We hope you have a wonderful Christmas break time with your family and friends.
