Happy half term holidays Year 3! We started our English off this week with some drama and role play! We acted out different parts of Jemmy Button’s adventure to the city and thought about how he might feel. We then wrote a short diary entry to express how he felt. We wrote in the style of the diary, writing in the first person. We then explored the example text, thinking about Jemmy’s feelings at different points of the story.
In maths we spent the week finishing our fractions unit, focusing on unit fractions and non unit fractions and reasoning questions involving fractions. We found bar models helped with these questions and looking for patterns linked to our times tables. We finished the week with an end of unit assessment. Well done Y3.
In RE, we continued with the unit all about Rules of the Land. We learnt about the bible stories “in the beginning” thinking about those first rules God put in place in the garden of Eden. We then investigated the 10 commandments and thought about which ones were the most important and why.
What a sports filled week! We took part in an extra long sports session after the disappointment of having to cancel sports day this week! We practised hurdles, sprint, obstacles and bean bag. You all showed great sportsmanship and determination. It was lovely to set you celebrating each other throughout the races! Today, you completed your final kick session with James this half term.
I also had the pleasure to watch your recorder showing of Hot Cross Buns today! You were fantastic and it made me have a huge smile on my face.
Have a lovely half term holiday Y3.
