What an amazing week. We have made memories to last a lifetime with being book sellers, cricket superstars and we even partied at the Summer lights festival.
In English, the children have been working hard to write detailed recounts of their trip to the museum. Each day, they focused on writing a different paragraph to build a well-structured piece. Their opening paragraph described the coach journey and the excitement building as they set off. The second paragraph captured their first activity--either exploring Tudor artefacts in the museum or taking a guided walk around Nantwich. In the third paragraph, they wrote about their lunch break and the excitement of visiting the gift shop. Finally, the fourth paragraph described their final activity and the journey back to school. These recounts have been an absolute delight to read, full of vivid detail and enthusiasm!
In reading time , I have been listening to you read with fluency, accuracy and expression. It is so lovely to see how these key elements of reading has developed throughout the year and to see how much progress you have made.
In maths, we have continued to focus on problem solving. You have worked hard to tackle word problems using your knowledge of addition and subtraction, applying different strategies to find accurate answers. You have also used your understanding of multiplication and division to solve more complex word problems, showing great reasoning and perseverance throughout.
In PE with Coach Sam, you have been working on agility skills specifically on how to run properly. You also had an amazing opportunity to go to South Cheshire college this week and complete cricket skills. A huge thank you to all of the parents for taking you there and bringing you back to school we couldn't have done it without their help!
In RE, we have started our final topic of looking at accension which we found out was when Jesus went back to heaven for his final time.
In geography, we have been continuing to look at Nantwich and we completed a special activity this week where we had to ask members of staff what they like to do in Nantwich and why they think Nantwich is special.
In PHSE, we have learnt the importance of sun safety and that we mustn't try to sit in the sun for a tan as we should be confident in our own skin. We used freeze frames to show the important sun safety tips like staying in the shade, drinking plenty of water and wearing sun cream and hats. You have completed your unit assessment of fake is a mistake and we will be starting a new unit next week.
In computing, you have created your own quiz design on paper which you are going to create on scratch next week.
In science, you have been watching your bean plants grow and you have been writing in your diary. You also learnt about what is inside a seed. You found out that a seed has an embryo plant, food store and a seed coat. You loved dissecting your seed to see inside it.
In DT, you have been continuing your learning on structures. You realised that a cylinder shaped structure could hold the most amount of books. You then created your own cylinder structures thinking about how you could make them the most stable whether they need to be thin, think or have more layers of paper. We then created a super structure.
In well being time you designed your own envelopes for the summer lights festival which was a huge success. Thank you to our amazing PTA for giving us such an amazing experience once again.
Our music lesson taught us all about dinosaurs! Having listened to 'No More Dinosaur' we learnt how long ago they became extinct, what scientists know about dinosaurs and how we are definitely glad they do exists amongst us today! We were surprised this song showcases three different styles of music: Pop, Rock and Hip-Hop.
As well as all of this, you took part in a brilliant book sale to raise money for Chance Changing Lives! You were absolutely fantastic shop assistants--welcoming customers, handling the books, and helping with the sales. A huge thank you to everyone who supported us by buying a book. Once all the books have been sold, we'll be counting up the money together to see how much we've raised--we can't wait to find out!
Have a wonderful weekend superstars.
See you on Monday,
