We have fit so much into just four days and I am so proud of how hard you work every single day!

This week in English, you have been busy writing persuasive letters to the King, urging him to lift the ban on the dark. In your writing, you confidently used features such as lists, contractions, exclamation sentences, question sentences, and persuasive language to make your arguments strong and convincing. It’s been a real pleasure reading your letters—each one was thoughtful, creative, and full of passion. With such fantastic efforts, I’m sure the King will be changing his mind very soon!

In maths this week, you worked hard on finishing your fraction unit. You learnt how to add fractions together and discovered that 2/4 is equivalent to 1/2. You can now recognise and find 3/4. Each day we started with a fraction starter that focused on finding a half, quarter and third of an amount, which helped you to develop your understanding even further.

In Steps to Read this week, you have been reading the story The Flower by John Light. The story is about a boy who lives in a dark, grey world where books about flowers are locked away. When he discovers one, it sparks a journey of curiosity, hope, and change. You learnt how powerful knowledge and nature can be, and how one small act can inspire transformation. Each day, you answered comprehension questions to deepen your understanding of the story and explore the characters' thoughts and feelings.

Throughout the week, we spent time learning about World War II, why Victory in Europe Day is such a significant moment in history and why it's so important to celebrate peace. To mark the occasion, you created colourful bunting to decorate our school. At lunchtime, the celebration continued with our very own version of a street party -- complete with party food, flag waving and big smiles all around! Everyone looked amazing in their party clothes, making the day even more special. Among all the celebrations, we did take a moment to be thankful. At 11 o'clock, we paused for a minute's silence to remember and honour those who gave their lives for the peace we enjoy today. It was a powerful and respectful moment shared across the school.

In History this week, you learnt all about what Nantwich looked like in 1853. You discovered that it was a busy market town with narrow streets, timber-framed houses, and lots of small shops and stalls. It was busy, smelly and unpleasant. You explored what a Tudor market town would have looked like and how people lived during that time. This helped you to understand what life was like in Nantwich when the Great Fire happened. You were especially shocked to find out that people would bathe in the same river they drank from, even though sewage was emptied into it.

In RE this week, you looked closely at what St Chad's Church in Wybunbury looks like. You thought back to your visit in Year One and used the photos you took with Miss Willis to help you remember the special features inside the church. You then created a fantastic information booklet all about Wybunbury Church, explaining what you can find there and what pews, the altar, and the lectern are used for.

Year 2 continued with their digital music learning in computing and created music with drawings. The children listened to piece of music ‘Neptune’ by Gustav Holsts. The children thought about the different instruments they can hear in the piece of music. The children then drew what the song reminded them of. Using chrome music lab, the children then created pieces of space music by creating different drawings. The children realised that they could change the sound/instrument by changing the colour. What amazing work Y2!

In art this week, you continued your exciting work on architecture. You started by recapping everything you had learnt so far about the artist and architect Hundertwasser, sharing facts you remembered such as his love for bright colours, curved lines, and nature-inspired designs. Building on this, you explored how Tudor houses were designed and built, noticing their timber frames and unique structures. You then worked in groups as teams of architects to design your very own Tudor houses, ready to bring your ideas to life using cardboard in the next lesson.

In courageous advocacy you continued your work on teamwork by listening to a story about Gracie. In heartsmart we thought about bullying and unkind words.

Have a wonderful weekend team superstars!
