Happy Friday Team!

In our English lessons, we planned and wrote the 'problem penguin' part of our story, focusing on very upset detective animals feeling lonely. We also worked on the 'elephant ending,' where the characters got ready to move and then became detective friends with someone new. After that, we looked at the letters Hermelin had left for the different characters. We acted out how each character felt when they discovered the letters and missing items, and it was so much fun dressing up to bring the story to life!

In our math lessons, we focused on number bonds, starting with number bonds to 10. We then explored the patterns when making number bonds to 20. It was fun watching Numberblocks: Ten Again, where we discovered all the different ways to make 10. The episode helped us see the number bonds in action and made learning even more enjoyable!

During Interfaith Week, we focused on the Islamic religion in RE. We listened to a story about ants and camels, which taught us many valuable lessons. We discussed the parts of the story we liked and shared what we had learned from it. We also talked about the important values in the Islamic religion, such as kindness, respect, and helping others, deepening our understanding of different beliefs.

In our Heartsmart lesson, we talked about the people who look after us and who we turn to when we need help. We learned that these people do kind things for us without expecting a thank you, but it's important to show appreciation. We looked at the Bible reference, "I have not stopped giving thanks to God for you. I remember you in my prayers." (Ephesians 1:16). To show our gratitude, we made thank you cards for those who help us, and we gave them out to everyone.

In our science lesson, we recapped all our knowledge about animals and then learned about the human body. We played Simon Says, pointing to different body parts, and had fun moving around. As a class, we labeled a body together, and then we each had a go at labeling the body parts on our own. It was a great way to learn about how our bodies work!

In our art lesson, we planned our animal designs and sketched them into our sketchbooks. We learned that we would be creating art in the style of Eric Carle, using bold patterns. We collaged paint onto tissue paper, which was a little tricky because the tissue paper is so thin. We can't wait to cut out our collages and turn them into our animals, bringing our creative ideas to life!

In our Wellbeing lesson, we talked about things we love to think about, like friends and family, and how they make us happy. We also discussed things we don't like to think about because they make us sad, such as people being mean or unkind. To celebrate Children's Mental Health Week, we shared things we are really good at, like gaming, drawing, and being helpful. We then talked about areas we'd like to improve and how we can do that, thinking that with lots of practice and asking for help, we can get better at anything!

In our Forest School session, we continued making sculptures, split into five teams, each representing an animal group. We worked together using nature to create different animals, such as sticks, flour, and natural treasures. The fish group made a wonderful jellyfish, the bird group created a barn owl in a tree, the mammals made a cow with a cowpat, the reptiles crafted a snake with a really happy face, and the amphibians made a jumping frog. We finished our session by toasting marshmallows, a perfect ending to a fun day in the woods!

In our music lesson, we listened to some funky songs, including Big Bear Funk. We spent the time learning the lyrics and even came up with some dance moves to go along with the song. We're really excited and can't wait to perform it for Miss Holland next week!

In our PE lesson, we focused on rugby. To warm up, we played Farmer Farmer, where we had to try and cross without being caught. Then, we worked in groups, using rugby balls to practice throwing and catching, learning the basic skills needed for the game. It was a fun way to get active and improve our teamwork!

In Computing, we got to use the BeeBots, which was lots of fun! We had to think carefully about how to code them to make sure they reached the right destination. Each time, we picked a card that told us where the BeeBot started, and another card that showed us where it needed to go. We wrote down our coding ideas on a whiteboard, then programmed the BeeBot and watched to see if it worked. It was exciting to see if our coding was correct!

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend and I look forward to seeing you all next week!
