Happy Friday Team!

In our English lessons, we have been busy writing our own versions of Where the Wild Things Are, using lots of creativity and imagination. We have have planned and written Build Up Bears and Problem Penguins, thinking carefully about how to develop our stories. Now, we are beginning to plan our Elephant Endings, making sure our conclusions are just as exciting as the rest of our stories. Everyone's writing is full of detail, and we have worked hard to choose the best adjectives and form our sentences correctly to make our stories the best they can be!

In our Math lessons, we have been exploring measurement, using centimeters and non-standard units to measure different items. We learned the importance of lining up our rulers correctly to get accurate measurements and compared lengths and heights. We also discussed the difference between thinner and wider objects. In the afternoons, we focused on partitioning numbers within 10 and explored even numbers, discovering that they always have a double. It's been great fun using our measuring and number skills in different ways!

In our RE lessons, we have been learning about The Easter Story and discussing Jesus' resurrection. We talked about how Christians believe resurrection means a new life beginning after death. We also explored different artists' interpretations of Jesus' resurrection, sharing our thoughts on each piece of artwork. To finish, we spent time creating our own representations of this important event, using our creativity to express what resurrection means to us.

In our Heartsmart lesson, we explored the Bible quote, "Love does not count up wrongs that have been done." (Corinthians 13:4-5). We read the story of Borris and discussed his feelings throughout, focusing on how Josh and Amber made him feel loved and forgave him. To illustrate forgiveness, we used a bath fizzer--feeling its rough, hard texture before placing it in water. As it dissolved, we talked about how forgiveness, like the fizzer, helps worries and bad feelings fade away, showing love and kindness in action.

In our Geography lessons, we explored the changing seasons and how the weather shifts throughout the year. We focused on Spring and Winter, discussing how the Earth's tilt affects daylight and temperature. In Spring, the Earth tilts towards the Sun, bringing longer, warmer days. In Winter, it tilts away, causing shorter, colder days. We observed how these changes impact nature and our daily lives.

In our PE lessons, we began our dance with the corners game, creating new movements and actions for different animals. We continued developing animal-inspired movements, making routines to music for our partners to copy, and enjoyed sharing our routines with the class. In striking and fielding, we warmed up with a fun game of Mr Men, acting as Mr Tall and Mr Rush. We practiced our throwing skills, both underarm and overarm, and worked in pairs to bowl and hit the ball with rackets. We wrapped up the lesson by fielding the balls that had been hit.

In our Music lessons, we listened to different pieces of music and found the pulse using our bodies. We focused on Hush Little Baby, discussing what we liked and didn't like about the song. We then practiced learning the lyrics and had a go at performing it together.

In our DT lessons, we continued working on our windmill creations, discussing how to make them stable. We explored different types of windmills and how they function. Finally, we added sails to our bases using straws, bringing our designs to life. We cannot wait to decorate them.

In our Computing lessons, we practiced grouping objects and then compared the different groups. We used words like fewer and more than to describe them and discussed our reasons for sorting them in certain ways. This helped us understand how to organize and compare information.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!
