Happy Friday Team!
We had two amazing performances of Away in a Manger, showcasing fantastic singing and acting from everyone involved. We are so proud of all the hard work and talent that made the shows so special. A huge thank you to families and friends for their support--it made the performances even more memorable!
In our English lessons, we explored "How to Catch a Troll" instructions, paying close attention to spotting plurals and identifying bossy verbs that give clear commands. We also looked at -er words, describing words, and questions to make our writing more detailed and engaging. To add a magical twist, we even wrote creative spells that could be used to catch a witch, combining everything we learned to craft powerful and imaginative sentences!
In our math lessons, we have been balancing equations, practicing with quizzes, and using bar models to solve addition problems and find missing parts. In the afternoon, we focused on the number 7, discovering different ways to make 7 through addition and subtraction. We even enjoyed watching Numberblocks to see creative ways the number 7 comes to life.
In our RE lesson, we explored the theme of gifts and Christmas, discussing how Jesus is a special gift from God to the world. We talked about how it's not the wrapping or the material gift that matters, but the love and meaning behind it. After opening some gifts, we decided we'd rather be loved than just receive sweets that last only a moment. We also drew our own representations of the nativity scene, reflecting on the story's importance and its message of love and giving. There was lots of very cute spiders in the everyones scenes.
In HeartSmart, we reflected on the Bible verse, "I praise you because you made me in an amazing and wonderful way." (Psalm 139:14). We played "Would You Rather," discovering how our preferences can be similar yet unique. After the game, we discussed how no two people are exactly the same--even if we choose the same answer once, our choices would eventually differ. Being HeartSmart means recognizing and celebrating that we are all wonderfully unique. There never has been, and never will be, another person just like you!
In our PE lessons, we practiced a variety of movements, focusing on rolling techniques and developing our strength and balance with handstands. These activities helped improve our coordination and confidence, making each session fun and active!
In D&T, we had fun making smoothies using two fruits and one juice. We carefully cut the fruits we needed and juiced some to add extra flavor. Before blending, we guessed what color our smoothies might turn out to be. Watching the blender work its magic was exciting, and we loved trying our very own delicious creations!
In our computing lessons, we learned about Georges Seurat and his unique style of pointillism, where paintings are made using tiny dots of paint, often with thick oil paints to prevent running. We explored his artwork and discussed how to create our own sunflower designs using Paintz. We experimented with different tools like paintbrushes, pencils, and spray cans to make our own digital dot paintings, bringing pointillism to life on screen!
Have a lovely weekend!
