Happy Friday Team!
Firstly I would just like to say thank you to everyone that came along to messy church, it was such a lovely morning. I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did. I would also like to thank everyone for all the donations made.
In our English we have been getting ourselves ready to write a letter to the toys. We have spent some time looking at the 'What a good one looks like' text. Picking out all the good skills that have been used. We have written little messages to the toys pretending to be stuck in the attic. We have planned out the first paragraph for our letters. Thinking about why we are writing these letters and what we need to include.
We have started a new unit in math, looking at addition within 10. We have been using part-whole models and number lines to help us with our addition. We really need to know our number bonds to 10, so have been making sure to talk about them. Everyone is working super hard!
In computing we have been using laptops keyboards to write sentences. We talked about what the different keys on the keyboard did. We had a go at using the space bar which we called the finger space, the backspace and the arrow keys. Once we had had a chance to look at the keyboard we had a go at writing sentences. Fixing them by only using the keyboard.
In History we looked at dolls. We talked about the knowledge we have already learnt, discussing the differences, materials and similarities of toys from the present and toys from the past. We then looked at photos of dolls. Some were new and some old. We spent some time discussing how we knew which ones were old and which were new. We looked at what materials they were made of and we looked at how the dolls were similar or different.
During PE we were shown how to roll a ball to a partner through a gate that got narrower as we improved. We were shown to step forward with our opposite leg to our throwing/rolling leg and roll with precision.Afterwards we played to game to work on our jumping from two feet – two feet.
In music we listened to the song 'We are Together'. We worked together to list all of the different instruments we could hear in the song. We then made different beats using parts of our body for ourfriendsto copy.
In our Heartsmart lessons we talked about healthy choices. We listed all the ways to keep our body healthy and then how we can keep our minds healthy. We learnt that being healthy, both physically and mentally, is important and has many benefits – helps us grow, builds strong bones and muscles, improves confidence, helps us to stay positive. In order to live a healthy lifestyle we have to make healthy choices. 'Do not abandon wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will keep you safe. Getting wisdom is the most important thing you can do. Whatever else you get, get insight.'Proverbs 4:6-7. We then helped Borris to make therightchoices to support his body in being healthy.
We have been looking at Harvest in RE. We looked at the Jewish faith and talked about how they celebrate harvest. It is called the festival of Sukkot. In accordance with the laws laid out in the Book of Leviticus each year when all the harvest is gathered in, the festival of Sukkot is celebrated. As well as celebrating the good gifts of the harvest and God's yearly provision, the festival of Sukkot is a time to remember the Exodus. Moses led the people out of Egypt to freedom. We heard the story of Moses parting the Red Sea and saw how they stayed in shelters. We looked at the shelters they build during Sukkot, and then we spent time working as a team to build our very own Sukkots. Great team work everyone!
In our Art we carried on making our creative medals. We discussed there should be no white showing, so we took some parts off and added new bits to make them the best we can. We cannot wait to add the safety pins so we are able to wear them next week.
I hope everyone enjoys there weekends!
