Happy Summer a Holidays Year 1 (18.7.25)

We've had a truly lovely final week together in Year 1!This week, the children have been busy writing up their recounts in their special red presentation books. It's been such a joy to see how much everyone's writing has improved since the start of the year, the progress is something to be really proud of!In Maths, we've wrapped up our topic on Time, and it's been fantastic to see so much enthusiasm. Many children have gone beyond just telling the time to the hour and half past – they've been keen to ask questions and find out how to tell quarter past and quarter to, too!We've also been busy with lots of end-of-year activities and finishing-up jobs. In Geography, we explored why people visit the Arctic, and we even organised a small world Arctic and Antarctica area ready for the next Year 1 class to enjoy.One of our favourite moments this week was creating our self-portraits – just like we did when we first transitioned into Year 1! The children couldn't wait to take them home and compare how much they've grown and changed.It's been a truly special last week, full of creativity, curiosity, and reflection.

Wow – what a year we've had in Year 1! You have all shone so brightly and created some truly special memories together. One of the highlights was learning all about toys, especially when our parents and grandparents came in to share their favourite old toys with us – what a fun and fascinating day that was! We also loved learning about animals, welcoming a visitor from the RSPCA who taught us all about hedgehogs, dressing up in our fabulous animal costumes, and making some brilliant animal crafts – such a creative and exciting experience!We explored the history of Wybunbury and our school, even heading into the village for a community litter pick, showing how much we care about our local area. Our Forest School sessions were another big favourite – crafting with nature, exploring the outdoors, and of course, toasting marshmallows together!You have all grown so much this year – in your learning, your confidence, and your friendships. It has been an absolute pleasure getting to know each and every one of you, learning about your wonderful personalities and all the things that make you you. I wish you all the very best in Year 2 – keep being amazing, and above all, keep shining!
