Our First Week!
Wow, what a fantastic first week we've had in Reception Class! Even though it has been only a few days, we have already been so busy, and we have settled in brilliantly. We are very proud of ourselves!
We have been learning all about our new routines, we even have our very own coat pegs and drawers. We've been practicing putting our belongings away all by ourselves, and we're getting really good at it!
We have loved listening to different stories each day. After reading The Invisible String, we each had a special piece of string made with love to connect us to our parents. Now, if we miss them at school, we can tug on our little string and remember that they are always close in our hearts.
In another story, The Something, a little boy lost his ball down a deep, dark hole under a cherry tree. He knew there was something down there... but what could it be? We had so much fun using our imaginations and coming up with our own ideas! One friend thought it might be a dragon, so we created fiery dragon pictures using orange, red, and yellow paint. They looked amazing!
In Maths, we've been singing lots of number songs and counting carefully, first up to 5 and then 10. We used playdough to make chocolate chips for cookies, matching them to Numicon numbers, and decorated our own gingerbread men, counting the buttons, eyes, and decorations we used. We also played dice games, rolling, counting, and adding counters to match the numbers. What clever mathematicians we are already becoming!
We've also been exploring our wonderful garden. We found bugs hiding in the plants and even spotted a butterfly having a little rest before it flew away. We can't wait to spend more time outside, discovering new things together.
It has been such a special first week, and we are so excited for all the fun, learning, and adventures that are still to come in Reception Class.
Have a lovely weekend
