Exploring, Creating, and Caring – What a Week!

This week has been full of fun, feelings, and fantastic learning. We've been busy bees (and slithery snakes!) exploring new ideas and showing how clever and kind we can be.

Personal, Social and Emotional Development:We started by thinking about what makes us feel happy and calm. We shared things we love like walking the dog, playing with our families, and cuddling at home. Then we tried some special wellbeing activities like calming breathing and butterfly hugs, they made us feel peaceful and ready to learn.

Literacy:Our story this week had four exciting parts! We met Opening Octopus, Build-Up Bear, Problem Penguin, and Ending Elephant (they helped us remember each part). We made our own picture stories and sequenced the beginning, build-up, problem, and ending. We're becoming brilliant storytellers!

Mathematical Development:We've been subitising numbers to 5, that means spotting how many without counting! We used objects in groups and sang lots of number songs to help us. We're getting really good at recognising numbers quickly, just like magic!

Language and Communication:We explored some autumn treasures like acorns and conkers. We talked about what we knew about them, when we see them, and what happens when they fall to the ground. We even wondered what might grow if we planted one, maybe a whole forest!

Physical Development:We warmed up our bodies and got ready to move! We remembered the animals from our story The Something and moved like them, hopping like rabbits, slithering like snakes, and jumping like frogs. We travelled around obstacles safely and changed our speeds like real athletes.

Understanding the World:We discovered that some animals live underground and some live above. We designed and built homes for the animals in our story, cosy burrows, leafy nests, and even a dragon's cave! We thought carefully about what each animal might need.

Creative Arts and Design:Our imaginations were buzzing as we made animal homes and story pictures. We used different materials and colours to bring our ideas to life. Our classroom looks amazing with all our creations!

We've had a wonderful week full of learning, laughter, and love. We can't wait to see what next week brings!
