Reception Class News 12.07.24

Another busy week in Reception class on our second to last week!

In Mathematical Development, we were introduced to the concept of time in our last optional Power Maths unit. We began by ordering the events of a day using clues from pictures. We learned that the clock tells the time of day and made our own sequence of key events in the morning and afternoon.

For Wellbeing, we looked back through all our wellbeing books, reflecting on the answers and ideas we had given to some of the questions throughout the year. We considered the different wellbeing strategies we have learned and thought about which ones were our favourites and when we would use them best.

In PSHE, we explored the Christopher Winterly project across the week on family and friendship. We recognised the importance of friendship and understood that friends can make us feel happy. We discussed ways to make new friends feel welcome, as well as the importance of saying sorry and forgiving friends when friendships get tricky. Our story 'The family Book' helped us to understand that all families are different.

In Physical Development, we warmed up with Coach James by playing electric car games. Our main session involved caterpillar races, and we cooled down with some stretches.
