It may have been a shorter week but we have certainly packed the learning in Year 3!
In English this week, we spent time reading the next chapter of Iron Man and deciding what kind of character we thought he was. We thought about what he looked like and what we know about his personality so far. You came up with some great phrases and vocabulary. We read our model text about a space-bat-angel-dragon and thought the reader used lots of words and phrases to make us think this character poses a threat to the villagers. You thought of synonyms for the word scared and mind mapped these to use in your writing. Lots of you have also been inspired by James' Iron Man 2 story and have created your own versions. This has made me so proud and they just keep coming and coming! We have decided they will be on display in our classroom next week...I can't wait!
We continued with suffix -ion in spellings.
In maths, we have got excited about times tables. We looked for patterns in our 9 times times and looked at the relationship to the 3s. We worked in our power maths books on dividing a 2 digit number by a one digit number and partitioning so it helps us to find the answer. We looked at how manty possibilities there were to use five hats and two pairs of shoes. We found several different ways of correlating the information given including lists and line diagrams. We then looked at the information and decided which operation could be used to find the answer.
In computing, we had a cross curricular lesson with history. We learnt more about King Charles and one fact that we really liked was that he is passionate about nature and looking after our world, including reducing plastic use, just like us! We used brushes redux app to create our own royal stamps, thinking about the coronation and King Charles' love of nature. You learnt to save your work, edit and open your work. You were wowed by each others work which was wonderful to see. I was wowed by everyone!
Reading this week was 1:1 reading and it has been lovely to see more and more of you achieve your book challenge reading badges. Keep reading- you are all doing so well!
This week’s music lesson proved a bit of a challenge! We didn’t shy away from it though. We stuck with it and never gave up. Playing Gently Sleep was challenging because we had to play the notes in the order of G, A and then B. This is the opposite order of our previous piece of Hot Cross Buns. Your perseverance shone through year 3. Well done!
We continued to learn numbers 0-20 in French. We have found a really catchy song to help us with this!
We began practising our Courageous Advocacy worship. We looked at the information we wanted to include and how we wanted to present it, as well as looking a few song choices.
We played Soundcheck again on TT Rockstars and loved looking at the bar graph showing how we are all doing, especially when it updates and we've moved further up towards the top!!
We also took part in our times tables test. We're getting so fast now!
In PE we took part in athletics and OAA. In OAA we continued our focus on team building games, working together to solve problems and complete activities.
Have a lovely weekend.
