What a fantastic week we've had in Year 2.

In English this week, we continued to edit parts of our shared write. Our plan is to complete our hot writes next week, I'm sure they are going to be fantastic! We also spent time this week focusing upon our Y1 and Y2 spellings. We corrected lots of spellings and practised using our spelling sheets in the back of our English books.

In Maths, we completed our unit on money. We worked out how to find change and the operations needed for this, whilst we also focused upon two step word problems. We used our column methods to help us along the way. We finished by completing our end of unit check and demonstrated some fantastic knowledge within this! We will be starting our unit on multiplication and division next week...

In Reading and Phonics we continued to recap key sounds, spellings and practised our comprehension skills throughout the week. You all continued to read well at home and I'm blown away by the amazing book reviews you continue to be leaving!

We started our new unit in Science this week which focuses upon animals including humans. We started by thinking about one of our science words, "offspring". We learnt all about how all animals have offspring and that some look like their adult, whilst some do not! We ordered animals offsprings and decided which ones looked like their adults, fantastic knowledge, team!

On Wednesday,we took part in our fourth Forest School session. We started by creating some fantastic leaf artwork, we were able to make a gigantic owl who looked brilliant in the forest school shed. We then created our own pieces of nature artwork, working in teams to use natural resources to help build our creations. They looked so cool, well done!

We had our extra P.E slot this Monday. Hayley was very impressed with us all as we all continued to practise our throwing, catching and shooting skills.

In R.E, we continued our new unit. We discussed the big question of "What does the visit of the Magi tell us about Jesus?". We recapped the versions of the story we had already heard and moved on to a very exciting task! We completed a role play activity whereby all of us became one of the three kings. We answered a series of questions in our R.E books and then had the chance to be interviewed. It was fantastic hearing all your different responses about the star, baby Jesus and your feelings towards King Herod. Well done!

Truth or lies? Our HeartSmart focus was to differentiate between the truth and lies that may be spoken about us. We remembered Boris had to learn the difference between the two. We also know that choosing to listen the truth is HeartSmart and it changes us for the better. We also wrote about our strengths and what makes us unique. We know that we are all special, individual and unique.

In Computing this week, we completed a job for our littering project work we have been focusing upon throughout the term. We used a programme called canva to create our own litter posters. We used a range of skills from cropping, to pinching and even uploading. We handed these posters out to parents in our class worship to display around their villages and towns.

This week saw us lead our very first class worship! We practised all week to ensure our worship would be the best it could. We all had words, actions and a song to learn. On Thursday, we showed our worship to Year 1 and were brilliant in being confident speakers. On Friday, we invited all of our parents and carers to come be a part of our worship. I was so proud of each and everyone of you. You all spoke beautifully and were so brave on your first time in the hall. What a fantastic message about littering you all gave!

We spent time completing our Christmas crafts to sell at the fare. We all produced some fantastic artwork using our fingers. We created wreaths, trees and baubles and made them into cards. It was great to see so many of them being sold at the Christmas Fare. Well done, Year 2.

We also had a very special visitor this week in Santa! We all headed over to the grotto and sat down with Santa. It was fantastic to see all your faces light up and you all got to tell Santa what you wanted for Christmas, he is going to be busy!

Have a fantastic weekend!
