Another term has come and gone. Your final spring term at Wybunbury Delves has come to an end and how brilliant you have all been. Your dedication and hard work never cease to amaze me. Thank you, Year 6.
In Maths this week we have completed our measure unit by working out different volume questions and we recapped area and perimeter. We have completed our end of unit assessment to consolidate our learning. We finished our week off by challenging ourselves to complete an Arithmetic SATs paper. I am so proud of you all and the determination you show.
Our book club sessions this week have focused on different short reading pieces which we have then used to answer comprehension questions. Will have completed some of these against the clock.
We have completed a new spelling unit this week on ei and ie spellings. We have been introduced to the saying, i before e except after c.
In English this week we began by choosing an activity that we enjoyed on our residential. We have discussed, planned and written a recount of our time at Robinwood. Some of us have written about our time with our buddies and I can't wait to enjoy all these pieces.
This week in our RE lesson we watched a short video from the Bible project and recorded a short reflection on who we thought Jesus was. We then used different parts of the Bible to think about who Jesus thought he was and created a piece of artwork to reflect our learning.
We have completed our computing unit this week by creating our own catcher games using Scratch. We have created sprites and included a timer and a scoreboard. We have coded position and drops and included a background too. I even had the chance to play a few.
In Geography this week we have learnt about avalanches and why they happen. We have focused on prevention and what this looks like in the Alpine region.
This week in Music we finally brought all of our hard work together. We had a quick practise of our scenes before performing them in our groups. Well done Year 6. You should be very proud of yourselves.
We have enjoyed two PE lessons this week. Our final lesson on netball focused on matches and our netball rules and positions. We offered each other advice and we even helped to referee. In our final hockey lesson we revised our tackles and then went on to play a tournament. You have been brilliant at both sports Year 6.
We have completed our French unit on time this week. We used numbers to sixty to compare two different clocks. Well done Year 6.
We have enjoyed Wellbeing time and a PSHE lesson discussing the statement – "Don't Hold onto What's Wrong. Using emojis we rated different scenarios and discussed them as a class. We also welcomed PC Nick into class. He talked to us about the importance of road safety. We found hazards that we could encounter when near roads and decided that being on phones is a hazard too
I just want to say what a privilege it has been to share our Easter Service with you this week. It was a moving worship and was a joy to be a part of. Being in church makes our service even more special. Thank you for supporting us.
We ended our week in the sunshine playing with our buddies.
I haven't set any homework to complete over the half term as I think a well-deserved break has been earned by all. I know many of you have SATs buster books and I'm sure you will be busy working on some of those tasks. If you do have outstanding maths.co.uk tasks, please be sure to catch up.
Enjoy the lie ins and recharge your batteries. I hope the sun shines and you enjoy your family time.
Thank you for all your support and I wish you a very happy Easter break.
You teacher.
