Y6 News of the Week

Back home  /  News  /  Y6 News of the Week

Welcome back Year 6. Let's keep up to date with each other and round up our week by sharing a few snip-its of what we have all been up to.

In Maths we have tackled co-ordinates and even plotted using a four quadrant grid. This has been new learning for us in Y6 and with the support of my videos you have all smashed it. I am super proud of you! We finished our week with our arithmetic paper and what high scores you are all achieving. I love how you are striving to improve each week, and improving is just what you are all doing.

We have also taken part in a daily TT Rock Stars Battle against other schools in our CDAT family. We are still the reigning champions and we are very proud of you all.

In English this week we have been writing letters. We began our week by listening to the story of the Crayons That Quit. We used this idea to come up with new colours and reasons for quitting. We then recorded a performance of our letters bringing the crayons to life and we have enjoyed watching these videos as a collection of our hard work. We then received a letter from our class chairs complaining about Y6 and how you treat them, and letting you know that they had gone on strike. You wrote persuasive letters to encourage them to return. We ended our letter writing by coming up with your own items either at home or at school to write about. You wrote complaint letters telling me that they were also going on strike! What a great week of letter writing you have completed. I have loved reading them all.

You have ensured SpaG.com is up to date and you have also completed some grammar and punctuation activities in your SpaG CGP books.

You have read some extracts from Harry Potter and answered comprehension questions too. We ended our English with a book quiz.

I have received lots of pictures of you sharing your afternoons with me. Keep them coming in as I love to see what you are all doing. Thank you for sharing your pictures and videos of our Science experiment on the bouncing eggs. I know some of them broke as you were taking them out of the vinegar! I have had some amazing artwork using all sorts of media. Well done.

Thank you for all your seesaw posts and completing my tasks in this different way of learning. I read all the comments you send me and hope you keep them coming in. I MISS YOU Y6!!!

Your teacher,

Mrs B.
